Local election day in Vienna. Communists got 4% but won't make it in the local council.

Heute fanden in Wien die lokalen Bezirks- und Gemeinderats/Landtagswahlen statt.

Große Veränderungen sind nicht zu erwarten, die SPÖ ist traditionell in Wien sehr stark, kommt knapp unter 40%.

Dachte, dass die SPÖ wegen der Migrationskrise und dem großen Budgetdefizit der Stadt (3.8 Milliarden neue Schulden bei ca. 20 Milliarden Einnahmen) größer ausfallen wird.

Gewinner sind die FPÖ und NEOS. Besonders schlecht ist das Ergebnis für die Bundeskanzler-Partei in Wien ausgefallen. Die ÖVP kommt vermutlich nicht einmal mehr auf 10% in der Bundeshauptstadt.

Die KPÖ hat auch mit 4% besonders gut abgeschnitten, wird es aber aller Voraussicht nach nicht über die 5%-Hürde schaffen.

Was sagt ihr zum Ergebnis? Denkt ihr, dass sich etwas verändern wird oder bleibt eh alles beim Alten?

The local district and municipal council/state elections took place in Vienna today.

Don't expect big changes, the socialists (SPÖ) are traditionally very strong in Vienna, coming in just under 40%.

Thought that the SPÖ will turn out bigger because of the migration crisis and the city's large budget deficit (3.8 billion in new debt with around 20 billion in yearly revenue).

The winners are the protest party FPÖ and the liberals NEOS. The result for the Chancellor's party (ÖVP) in Vienna is particularly bad. The ÖVP probably won't even get 10% in the capital of Austria.

The communists KPÖ also did particularly well with 4%, but in all likelihood will not make it over the 5% hurdle. You need to get over 5% to get represented in the local parliament.
