Rückblickend kann man sagen, dass Splinterlands sicher auch Fehler gemacht hat, zu viel versprochen, zu wenig geliefert, zu wenig Marketing, umstrittene Änderungen, ständige Reduzierung der Rewards, Karten-Inflation etc., aber das Team von @aggroed und @yabapmatt hat auch sehr viel richtig gemacht.

Sie haben bereits 2018 ein NFT-basiertes Fantasy-Krypto-Game entwickelt, das funktioniert und Spaß macht.

Eine Seltenheit im Krypto-Space. Zu Peak-Zeiten gab es eine halbe Million Player täglich, wobei die meisten Bots waren. Aber trotzdem ist das beachtlich, wenn man bedenkt, dass andere Chains bei so einem Transaktionsvolumen bereits in die Knie gehen würden.

Erinnert euch an CryptoKitties. Ein einziges erfolgreiches Game reicht aus, um die ganze Ethereum Chain lahmzulegen und der Hype bei anderen Games war auch schnell wieder verflogen.

Zum Jubiläum wird es übrigens nächsten Freitag (am 31. Mai 2024) ein Open-Tournament mit vielen Preisen geben, wo jeder mitmachen kann.

Aber es gibt einen kleinen Hacken, man muss KYC machen. Habe die Gelegenheit genutzt und mich verifiziert, was nicht so schwierig war.

Das Event wurde aber noch nicht gepostet. Denke, dass es dazu noch eine Ankündigung geben wird.

Hauptpreis sind 1 Runi, 5 Plots und eine Million DEC, bis Position 138 gibt es noch ein Rebellion Pack als Trostpreis. Bin gespannt, wie viele mitmachen.

Eine positive Änderung gibt es übrigens auch noch, zu den meisten Tournaments kann man mittlerweile kostenlos beitreten. Es gibt kaum noch eine Gebühr, um bei einem Tournament mitzumachen.

Congratulations to Splinterlands on its 6th anniversary! That's an eternity for a crypto game and despite all the recent problems, Splinterlands has survived this long.

Looking back, Splinterlands has certainly made mistakes, over-promising, under-delivering, under-marketing, controversial changes, constant reduction of rewards, card inflation etc, but the team of @aggroed and @yabapmatt have also done a lot right.

They created an NFT-based fantasy crypto game back in 2018 that works and is fun to play.

A rarity in the crypto space. At peak times, there were up to half a million players a day, most of whom were bots. But that's still remarkable when you consider that other chains would already be on their knees with such a transaction volume.

Remember CryptoKitties. A single successful game is enough to paralyze the entire Ethereum chain and the hype for other games quickly faded.

To celebrate the anniversary, there will be an open tournament next Friday (May 31, 2024) with lots of prizes, where anyone can take part.

But there's a small catch: you have to do KYC. I took the opportunity to verify myself, which wasn't that difficult.

But the event hasn't been posted yet. I think there will be an announcement about it.

The main prize is 1 Runi, 5 plots and a million DEC, up to position 138 there is a Rebellion Pack as a consolation prize. I'm curious to see how many will take part.

By the way, there is also a positive change: you can now join most tournaments for free. There is hardly any fee to join a tournament anymore.
