Die aufgezwungene staatliche ID-App "Digitales Amt" (ID Austria), die jeder Bürger in Österreich installieren muss, um mit den Behörden online interagieren zu können, hat im Play Store nur eine dürftige 1.9 Bewertung bekommen 😂
Die App-Zwang ist seit 5. Dezember 2023 in Österreich in Kraft getreten, davor war es möglich, sich mit einem SMS-TAN-Verfahren, ähnlich wie es Banken nutzen, auf staatlichen Websites einzuloggen, ohne eine App installieren zu müssen. Offener Standard.
Benutzer klagen darüber, dass die App nicht benutzerfreundlich ist, biometrische Sensoren benötigt und mit Bugs zu kämpfen hat.
Vorteil der App ist, dass sie durch die biometrische Funktion (Fingerabdruck, Gesichtsscan) mehr Sicherheit verspricht und man in Zukunft mehr Behördenwege mit der App erledigen wird können.
Nachteil ist, dass die App nicht open-source ist und sie ein Einfallstor für Sicherheitslücken, Überwachung und Bundestrojaner werden könnte.
Manche befürchten auch, dass man die biometrische ID App auch auf anderen Websites (Banken, KYC, Krypto-Exchanges, Facebook, Pornhub etc.) benutzen wird müssen, um sich digital auszuweisen oder das Alter zu überprüfen.
Das Problem betrifft nicht nur Österreich, sondern es handelt sich bei der Initiative um ein EU-Vorhaben (eID, eIDAS, EUid).
Einen ähnlichen ID-App-Zwang wird es vermutlich bald in allen EU-Staaten geben.

The app requirement has been in force in Austria since December 5, 2023; before that, it was possible to log in to government websites using an SMS-TAN procedure similar to the one used by banks without having to install an app. Open standards.
Users complain that the app is not user-friendly, requires biometric sensors and struggles with bugs.
The advantage of the app is that it promises more security thanks to the biometric function (fingerprint, face scan) and it will be possible to use the app to deal with more official channels in future.
The disadvantage is that the app is not open-source and could become a gateway for security vulnerabilities, surveillance and federal trojan spyware.
Some also fear that the biometric ID app will also have to be used on other websites (banks, KYC, crypto exchanges, Facebook, Pornhub, etc.) to digitally identify yourself or verify your age.
The problem does not only affect Austria, but the initiative is an EU project (eID, eIDAS, EUid).
There will probably soon be a similar ID app requirement in all EU countries.

No! I wouldn't want to install any app from the US government, or any government to be honest. That's unfortunate that it's going to be everywhere in the EU soon. It sounds like it's going to make KYC worse that it already is....
Ich musste es leider machen, da ich es sonst nicht (oder nur mit erheblichem Aufwand, Behördenwegen) geschafft hätte, ein Einzelunternehmen zu gründen. Mit der App geht es recht einfach. Über die Sicherheitslücken, etc. denke ich lieber nicht nach 😩.
Meine Handy Sig ist leider abgelaufen, email übersehen, muss jetzt den ganzen Registrierungsprozess wieder von vorne durchlaufen, weil die Handy Sig nicht automatisch verlängert wird, wenn man sie nutzt.
War bei mir genauso. Ja, man muß auf ein Magistrat, aber der Prozeß ist recht einfach und die Wartezeit überschaubar. Immerhin muß man nicht auf einen Brief mit einem Code warten, der dann mit der (Schnecken)Post geschickt wird (wie früher oder teilweise heute noch), sondern kann gleich loslegen.

Und ganz nebenbei werden Daten gesammelt, Bewegungsmuster erstellt etc.
Ich vertraue auf Nichts, was das EU-Kasperlament entwickelt oder vorzuschreiben
versucht.

they should do test run in the apps before requiring the public to install it.
Für jeden Scheiß auf dem Amt muss man einen Termin machen. Das dauert manchmal schon Tage bis Wochen. Für ein bisschen Erleichterung und schnelleres Arbeiten würde ich es auf jeden Fall machen.
if it will make the transaction with the government easier then why not. as long as it is safe.
the government should check first the security vulnerabilities of their app. make sure it cannot be hacked.

I can think of a few methods to overcome these types of systems. But the fun thing will be seeing grandparents using this.
I don't like these biometric apps. It is better to have a password, for example, as is done in Hive (posting key).
Why must they(govt) force things on people? The better way should have been to allow the two to be in use. People would now decide on the one they find convenience to use and make use of.
Glücklicherweise, kann man noch alles auch analog erledigen. Falls das irgendwann nicht mehr möglich sein sollte, würde ich mir selbstverständlich die analoge Kooperation der Behörden mit mir erklagen.
Niemals wird eine App auf mein Telefon installiert, deren Quellcode ich nicht ohne Weiteres selbst überprüfen kann. Schon gar nicht für die Übermittlung sensibler, persönlicher Daten, mithilfe derer meine Identität gestohlen werden könnte.
Ich nutze nicht einmal E-Mail, um mit dem Staat zu interagieren.
Neben den Sicherheitsaspekten, kann das klassische, persönliche Gespräch mit dem jeweilig zuständigen Beamten unschätzbare Vorteile für das Anliegen bringen!

Wozu muss die App denn Open soirce sein? Es würde ja schon auslangen wenn es von mehreren Stellen begutachtet werden könnte. Ansonsten ist aber soweit ich weiß eine App ja auch mit ein wenig Aufwand zumindest teils eingesehen werden "Reverse Engineering".
Ich wünschte mir schon das eine oder andere mal, es gäbe eine App um mich einfach zu verifizieren. Inzwischen geht's ja schon einfacher, früher brauchte ich oft auch eine Wohnmeldebestätigung.

Die Technologie an sich ist schön und gut aber wenn dann alles gegen "uns" verwendet wird, macht das keinen Spass mehr. Der "Digi-Knast" schreitet global voran, nicht nur in der EU.
Ubiquity of Smartphones make government overreach too easy. Ah, you were protesting the bank employees stealing your money? You have Covid. Lockdown. (as in China). Ah you were protesting medical mandates? The identity is linked to your location where ever you take it with you.
A digital id could make uploading our analog ids a thing of the past. Sign a message with a private key, and you log in to a government site and you' re authenticated as if you did a KYC procedure and there is no more concern of leaked copies of my documents being misused. As long as the private key comes from us and we can secure this private key which are problematic. Taking such a token everywhere you go seems idiotic. I'd keep it at home in a safe rather on a primary phone I take around.
There market forces are absent. So, you don't have a choice of which program you can use for this. That's bad. Various bitcoin wallets allow for signing random text messages. I am not sure about mobile bitcoin wallets but I am sure there are a few. It should be an open protocol and an open market.
Zum Glück ist das Amt in DE noch weit hinten dran. Hier kann man seit Coronski auch endlich Digital (Amt Postkasten per Webseite) seine Anträge abgeben, aber auf ne App hätte ich keine Lust.
