Facebook reportedly sold private chats on Messenger to Netflix
Facebook soll Netflix den Zugriff auf private Nachrichten auf Messenger verkauft haben.
Das ist heftig, wenn das stimmt.
Im Rahmen eines Werbedeals, Netflix ist ein großer Werbekunde von Meta, soll Netflix Zugang zu privaten Messenger-Chats erhalten haben, damit Netflix den Usern bessere Empfehlungen für Serien anzeigen kann.
Auch bei der End-zu-End-Verschlüsselung würde ich Facebook nicht 100% trauen.
Eine sichere Alternative wäre Signal, aber leider verwenden das noch nicht alle, oder Secret Chats auf Telegram, ein Feature, das man aber manuell bei jeder Konversation aktivieren muss.
Was sagt ihr dazu? Denke, Facebook sollte private Chats nicht anderen Firmen verkaufen dürfen.

Facebook reportedly sold Netflix access to private messages on Messenger.
That's a big deal, if true.
As part of an advertising deal, Netflix is a major advertising client of Meta, Netflix is said to have been given access to private Messenger chats so that Netflix can show users better TV show recommendations.
I wouldn't trust Facebook 100% when it comes to end-to-end encryption either.
A secure alternative would be Signal, but unfortunately not everyone uses it yet, or Secret Chats on Telegram, a feature that you have to activate manually for every conversation.
What do you guys think? I think Facebook should not be allowed to sell private chats to other companies.

We have the possibility of private chats in Hive, perhaps it is the solution.
What? Wouldnt they be sued by selling private chats?
Seems they are sued by a class action lawsuit already.
Facebook has always been sketchy, and I've come to accept that anything I do on Messanger is going to be sold as information to companies :D
That's intruding on one's privacy, and it's very unsettling to know that Facebook does that.
its known that Facebook has been selling the data and its serious issues. Better to stay away from web2 and make a move to web3
This is going very wrong people will lose trust in this way and they will stop using such projects at all because we can't show anyone's private stuff to any public.
I haven't used Facebook in a year and that's because I have stopped trusting them.

No they shouldn't! I no longer have an account with Facebook or Instagram because I don't trust them. My business still has accounts, but my personal I haven't used in many long years!
Luckily, I didn't sign up for facebook

I don't think they should be able to sell your chats but I honestly don't think anything will happen unless laws happen. The companies will always try to earn as much as they can.

Ich habe für vieles Verständnis, da ich weiß, durch Werbung werden viele Sachen finanziert und kostenlos angeboten, für die wir sonst viele Geld zahlen müssten.
Also wenn werbetreibende bzw. Ein Werbesystem, die Info bekommt, dass ich auf der Communuty xyz aktiv bin, das ich eine Artikel über Bitcoin lese etc. völlig in Ordnung. Von mir aus auch, das Edeka, Deutschlandcard weiß, was ich an Lebensmittel kaufe.
Aber Private Nachrichten sind auch für mich ein absolutes No go.
Aber Facebook nutze ich seit Jahren nicht mehr, hatte es nur wegen Verwandten kurzfristig genutzt und weil ichs fürs Login wo anders benötigt hatte.

Sehe ich auch so und wirft auch kein gutes Licht auf Netflix, warum braucht Netflix private Chats für Recommendations? die Watch-Historie sollte eigentlich dafür ausreichen.
Naja Watchlist sagt leider nicht aus, ob es dir gefallen hat, außer du nutzt die Umfrage danach. Aber machen wohl die wenigsten oder?
Aber frage mich, wie oft man dich mit anderen über Facebook sich über Filme austauscht. Im RL oder auch Hive passiert es schon. Da sollte Hive mal ne Kooperation mit Netflix eingehen !LOL
