Deer park closed because of foot-and-mouth disease. Social distancing for animals?
In Österreich im Lainzer Tiergarten wurde ein Gehege aufgelöst und die Tiere in einen größeren Bereich "entlassen" wegen der Maul und Klauenseuche. In Österreich gab es bis jetzt keine bestätigten Fälle. 24 Grenzübergänge wurden ebenfalls wegen der MKS geschlossen, um Fahrzeuge besser nach Tiertransporten kontrollieren zu können und über einen Seuchenteppich fahren zu lassen.
Was sagt ihr dazu? Gibt es bei euch ein Maul und Klauenseuche-Problem? Werden Tiere auch in größere Gehege verlagert und Social-Distancing bei den Tieren betrieben? Bringen die Maßnahmen überhaupt etwas, um die Ausbreitung einzudämmen? Halten sich Tiere an Social Distancing oder ist der Mensch das Hauptproblem (Tiertransporte, Jagd im Ausland, Massentierhaltung etc.)?

In Austria, in the Lainzer Tiergarten, an deer enclosure was closed and the animals “released” into a larger area due to foot and mouth disease. There have been no confirmed cases in Austria so far. 24 border crossings were also closed due to FMD in order to be able to better check vehicles for animal transports and to allow them to drive over an epidemic carpet.
What do you think? Do you have a foot-and-mouth disease problem? Are animals also being moved to larger enclosures and social distancing practiced with the animals? Do the measures help to contain the spread at all? Do animals adhere to social distancing or are humans the main problem (animal transportation, hunting abroad, factory farming, etc.)?

Currently we have the Blue Tongue disease passin by here in the Netherlands again with also bring some consequences with it ofcourse (aber jedes Jahr haben wir etwas glaube ich, Maul und Klauwen...oder Vogelgrippe....es ist immer etwas)

Oh, the Poor deer. A bigger space might help, but people moving animals spreads this fast. Maybe having less transport would stop it next time, this is sad

Tiergarten ist geöffnet, aber das Gehege beim Lainzer Tor wurde "aufgelöst".
The problem will arise if the infection reaches the farms.
This is really sad to know, letting them into a bigger space is a good move to contain the spread. They would also have to limit the movement of animals from city to city
Good thing to let them into wide open spaces I suppose. No idea on the foot and mouth disease here in the US. Not being a hunter I don't keep track of the wild animals much!

i don't like animals are taken and moved and such, humans invade their territory the more time passes

Ganz anders die zahlreichen Kinder, die sonst an den Gattern stehen.

It sounds weird to social distance the animals. I don't think they will understand it that much, but I guess having more space is always nice for them.
