Microsoft hat einen neuen Copilot-Mode im "AI-Browser" Edge integriert.

Falls der Copilot-Mode aktiviert ist, bekommen User jetzt eine neue aufgeräumte "New Tab Page" zu sehen, die nur aus einer Copilot-Box besteht.

Das Besondere ist, dass diese Eingabe-Box sowohl die Adress-Navigationen, Web-Suche (Bing oder Google) oder direkt Anfragen an Copilot weiterleitet.

Und das funktioniert tatsächlich sehr gut. Gibt man eine Webadresse ein, öffnet der Browser die Seite. Stellt man hingegen eine Frage wird man direkt zur KI weitergeleitet. Bei Suchbegriffen geht es zu Bing oder Google je nach Einstellung.

Damit wird die Wahrscheinlichkeit lange durch Suchergebnisse und Webseiten zu scrollen immer geringer, da die KI die meisten Fragen gleich direkt beantwortet.

Besonders hart trifft das How-To und Coding-Seiten. Fand man früher wertvolle Tipps und Sample-Code auf zahleichen dezentralen Webseiten, hat mittlerweile die KI sämtliche Seiten gescrapt und präsentiert das gewünschte Ergebnis schneller und komfortabler als das jemals der Fall war.

Damit sinkt die Notwendigkeit die Webseiten, auf denen die Primär-Information gespeichert ist, überhaupt noch zu besuchen.

Die Internetnutzung verlagert sich eher auf KI und Social Media. Dezentrale Websites sterben damit eher aus. Das ist zumindest der Kernpunkt der Dead Internet Theory. Wenn niemand mehr Webseiten besucht, warum diese dann noch aufwendig warten und mit nützlichem Content füllen, nur damit sie von KIs gescrapt werden?

Was sagt ihr dazu? Habt ihr den neuen Copilot-Mode in Edge schon ausprobiert? Denke, ist nur ein Frage der Zeit, bis Google den integrierten KI-Modus auch übernehmen muss. Google-Suche und das Besuchen von Websites wird damit an Bedeutung verlieren.

Microsoft has integrated a new Copilot mode into its AI Browser Edge.

When Copilot mode is activated, users now see a new, tidy “New Tab Page” consisting solely of a Copilot box.

What's special is that this input box combines address navigation, web searches (Bing or Google), or forwards queries directly to Copilot.

And it actually works very well. If you enter a web address, the browser opens the page. If you ask a question, however, you are forwarded directly to the AI. For search terms, you are forwarded to Bing or Google, depending on your settings.

This reduces the likelihood of having to scroll through search results and websites for a long time, as the AI answers most questions directly.

This has a particularly severe impact on how-to and coding sites. Whereas valuable tips and sample code used to be found on numerous decentralized websites, AI has now scraped all of these sites and presents the desired results faster and more conveniently than ever before.

This reduces the need to visit the websites in the first place where the primary information is stored.

Internet usage is shifting more toward AI and social media. Decentralized websites are thus dying out. At least, that is the core of the Dead Internet Theory. If no one visits websites anymore, why maintain them at great expense and fill them with useful content just so they can be scraped by AI?
