Binance finally enabled Bitcoin Lightning deposits and withdrawals 🤩 Are current LN fees & limits okayish? When Coinbase?
Binance hat gestern wie angekündigt Bitcoin Lightning Ein- und Auszahlungen aktiviert. Das ist großartig, hab darauf schon seit Jahren gewartet.
Hoffe, dass weitere Börsen dem Beispiel folgen werden. Dann könnte man zwischen Börsen extrem schnell und günstig Bitcoin transferieren.
Withdrawals findet ihr auf der Binance-Website unter Wallet > Overview > Withdraw.
Für Deposits in der Menüleiste "Deposits" anklicken und dann "Crypto Deposits" auswählen.
Danach als Coin "Bitcoin (BTC)" wählen und bei Netzwerk müsst ihr "Lightning" einstellen.
Die Limits sind derzeit für Withdrawals:
400 Sats bis 4,999,999 Sats (< BTC 0.5)
und für Deposits:
500 Sats bis 5,000,000 Sats (BTC 0.5)
Die Gebühr für Withdrawals beträgt derzeit 100 Sats also circa 3 Cents, was wirklich Klasse ist.
Maximal lassen sich mit einer Transaktion im Moment circa 1,500 US Dollar mit Lightning überweisen.
Hoffe, dass das Limit und die Kapaziät von Lightning in Zukunft angehoben wird, aber für kleinere Überweisungen macht Lightning damit jetzt schon absolut Sinn.
Kraken unterstützt übrigens schon seit letztem Jahr Lightning. Wann denkt ihr wird Coinbase folgen?

Binance finally enabled Bitcoin Lightning deposits and withdrawals yesterday. This is awesome, been waiting for this for years.
Hope that more exchanges will follow suit. Then you could transfer bitcoin between exchanges extremely fast and cheap.
Withdrawals can be found on the Binance website under Wallet > Overview > Withdraw.
For deposits, click on "Deposits" in the menu bar and then select "Crypto Deposits".
After that, select "Bitcoin (BTC)" as the coin and for Network you need to set "Lightning".
The limits are currently for withdrawals:
400 Sats to 4,999,999 Sats (< BTC 0.5)
and for deposits:
500 Sats to 5,000,000 Sats (BTC 0.5).
The fee for withdrawals is currently 100 Sats, which is about 3 cents, which is really great.
The maximum amount that can be transferred with one transaction is currently about 1,500 US dollars with Lightning.
I hope that the limit and the capacity of Lightning will be increased in the future, but for smaller transfers Lightning already makes sense.
By the way, Kraken already supports Lightning since last year. When do you think Coinbase will follow?

Trotzdem ist das für normale Nutzer schon mal eine richtig tolle Sache! :D
Genau, 0.05 BTC ist im Moment circa 1500 Dollar, ist gar nicht so schlecht, sollte eigentlich von hier immer besser werden, wenn das Lightning Netzwerk weiter wächst, außer es kommt irgendeine blöde Regulierung, die LN Transaktionen einschränkt, aber verschreien wir es nicht.

Für kleine Beträge OK, aber wie sicher ist LN eigentlich? Die LN-wallets, sind die meisten nicht custodial?
Eine andere Frage, die Bitcoin zu Bitcoin-Lightning Transfers z.B. auf Binance, sind die feeless?
Die meisten LN Wallets sind custodial, da muss man aufpassen, aber für kleine Beträge ok. LN Deposits auf Binance sind kostenlos, man zahlt nur die nativen LN Fees von der eigenen Wallet.
Und ein Wechsel von Bitcoin zu Bitcoin LN innerhalb von Binance? Ist das gratis?
Muss nicht gewechselt werden, man hat nur ein Bitcoin-Konto/Wallet auf Binance, egal ob on-chain oder LN.

Sehr cool. Leider kann ich mit dem Ledger Live noch kein Lightning nutzen.
Ich habe tatsächlich auch noch nie auf einer anderen Wallet Ligthning verwendet, das ich seit Jahren meine BTC Bestände nicht angefasst habe. Jetzt wirds aber langsam Zeit es zu testen. Welche Wallet für das Mobilephone benutzt du dafür? Ich werde wohl das Electrum verwenden. !BEER

it's great that Binance has finally enabled Bitcoin Lightning deposits and withdrawals. It's been a long time coming, but it's definitely worth the wait. I'm sure more exchanges will follow suit in the future, and I'm excited to see how Lightning can make Bitcoin transactions even faster and cheaper.
I haven't tested Lightning transactions on Binance yet, but I'm planning to do so soon. I'm curious to see how it compares to other Lightning implementations, and I'm excited to start using it to transfer Bitcoin between exchanges.
