Big changes in the US Department of Defense, renamed to Department of War, Generals have to conduct biannual fitness, weight and height tests, end of all DEI programs, return to higher (male) standards.

Major changes in the US Department of Defense, which has been renamed the Department of War recently, and the internet domain has changed as well from defense.gov to war.gov. Generals must now undergo a fitness (PT), weight, and height test twice a year, all DEI and wokeness programs are being terminated, and there is a return to uniform higher (male) standards.

Generals who disagree with the change of course in Washington are being told quite directly to leave the army.

I think some changes, such as ending woke agendas in the War Department, make perfect sense, while others, such as the twice-yearly weight and height tests, are rather questionable.

Once you reach a certain rank in the military, I don't think you want to be constantly subjected to such tests, and there have been jokes on social media about whether Commander-in-Chief Donald Trump would even pass the fitness and weight test. Normally, not only in the military, the higher your social rank, the more privileges you get. It's a natural hierarchical principle. It's an incentive to take on leadership and work your way up.

It is also questionable whether these tests make sense for generals at all, as generals tend to perform leadership tasks in the tactical, strategic, and logistical areas. On the other hand, generals also serve as role models and should keep fit for health reasons.

Some think that the new tests could also serve to remove unpopular generals who are too politically active and not toeing the line.

What do you think about the changes in the War Department? Reasonable changes, back to normal, or political purging?

I like the name change. The Ministry of Defense thing always seemed like a joke to me.

Changing the name to Department of War makes the US want to have a war

I think it's political purging from Trump. He should focus on more important things about the US than renaming the Gulf of Mexico and the Department of Defense. For me these are not the priority now.

Renaming the ministry is just the right thing to do in order to be awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize. Oh, wait! :))

I didn't like the speech, it sounded like someone who wants a war, while we should search peace

This is a bad joke. But to be clear thats just my opinion. Lets see how this season will end.

For the fitness and weight test to be seen as impartial, it has to include everyone, starting from the Commander-in-Chief down to the last recruit. Anything short of that suggests an ulterior motive.

I don't think changing the name can change the performance. The performance will be good, no matter what the name is, people will remember it.

I don't think a name change will help, but the name change doesn't bode well. It sounds like a war might happen.

These reforms sound pretty intense. Fitness tests for generals might feel unnecessary, but I guess the bigger question is whether this is really about improving the military or just politics. Time will tell.

Absolut sinnvoll.

100% political purge. I'm still going through the entire speech. I'm only 40 minutes in and this is alarming. He's talking about eliminating morality in fighting, eliminating psych evaluations, eliminating the rules of engagement, maximizing aggression and not worrying about repercussions. Literally sounds like they want mindless drones that will do whatever the regime asks of them without question or fear of consequences. Also sounds like they are gearing up to commit some war crimes and attack civilians, including their own who do not agree with them.
