My Prague & Vienna Tour - Part 2: The Old Town Square, Prague, Czechia [ENG-TUR]

As I mentioned in my previous travel posts, I don't like the vacation format that goes between hotel, sea and foods. I want to discover new places at homeland or abroad as much as possible. Before the pandemic, I traveled abroad every year. However, the pandemic caused millions of people, including me, to change their travel plans for at least 2 years. After the pandemic, it was time for me to start traveling abroad. Last year, I did this by going to Thessaloniki, Greece. I made some changes for the third choice of my international travel in this year. I visited the capitals of Czechia and Austria. I will write about Prague Old Town Square in the second part of my Prague & Vienna travel posts series.

Önceki seyahat yazılarımda da belirttiğim gibi otel, deniz ve yemek arasında geçip giden tatil anlayışını sevmiyorum. Yurtiçinde veya yurtdışında mümkün olduğunca yeni yerler keşfetmek istiyorum. Pandemiden önce her yıl yurtdışı seyahatleri yapan biriydim. Fakat, pandemi benim gibi dünyada milyonlarca insanların seyahat planlarını en az 2 yıl değiştirmesine sebep oldu. Pandemiden sonra benim için artık yurtdışı seyahatlerime başlamanın zamanı gelmişti. Geçen sene bunu Yunanistan’ın Selanik şehrine giderek gerçekleştirdim. Bu yılki üçüncü yurtdışı seyahat tercihimde biraz değişiklik yaptım. Çekya ve Avusturya’nın başkentlerini ziyaret ettim. Prag & Viyana gezi yazısı serimin ikinci bölümünde sizlere Prag Eski Şehir Meydanı’ndan bahsedeceğim.

After getting off at the Mustek metro station, I started walking to the hotel. The hotel is very close to the station and I can say that I was lucky as I didn’t want to walk any longer for being very tired. I had been up from six in the morning. Thankfully, I easily found the hotel where I would stay. After check-in, I left my belongings at the hotel and started walking through the old town of Prague. My first impression was that the architecture of the old town of Prague definitely resembled that of Italy. While walking through the old town, I felt like I was in Rome or Milan. The first thing that caught my eye was the St. Gallen Catholic Church.

Můstek metro istasyonunda indikten sonra otele yürüyemeye başladım. Otel istasyona çok yakında ve bu konuda şanslıydım diyebilirim çünkü çok yorgun olduğum için daha fazla yürümek istemiyordum. Sabah saat altıdan itibaren ayaktaydım. Neyse ki, kalacağım oteli kolaylıkla buldum. Check-in işlemlerini yaptıktan sonra eşyalarımı otele bıraktım ve Prag’ın eski şehrinin içinde yürümeye başladım. İlk izlenimim Prag’ın eski şehrinin mimarisinin kesinlikle İtalya’nınkine benzediğiydi. Eski şehirde yürürken kendimi sanki Roma’da Milano’da hissettim. Gözüme çarpan ilk şey Aziz Gallen Katolik Kilisesi oldu.

Then, I walked towards this long avenue/square where the Můstek metro station is. By the way, people beg like this in Prague, I guess it's specific to Prague. As I was very hungry, I ate at a restaurant somewhere in the avenue and I continued walking.

Daha sonra Můstek metro istasyonun olduğu bu uzun bulvara/meydana doğru yürüdüm. Bu arada, Prag’ta insanlar bu şekilde dileniyor, bu Prag’a özel sanırım. Çok acıkdığım için bu meydanda bir restorantta yemek yedim ve sonra yürüyüşe devam ettim.

I guess I had come from the old town to the new town. Here, I came across this colorful new town hall. Opposite it, there is a small park with a statue of St. Joseph. After walking a little further north, I came to Head of Franz Kafka statue. This is a place frequently visited by tourist groups.

Sanırım eski şehirden çıkıp yeni şehre gelmiştim. Burda karşıma bu rengarenk yeni belediye binası çıktı. Karşısında ise Aziz Josef’in heykelinin olduğu küçük bir park var. Kuzeye doğru biraz daha yürüdükten sonra Franz Kafka’nın Döner Kafa heykeline geldim. Burası turist gruplarının uğrak bir yeridir.

I continued walking north and reached Národní Street. This street is a street with various shops and stores and has an important place in Czech history. The student demonstrations of November 17, 1989, which are considered the beginning of the Velvet Revolution, were held on this street. As you know, a few years later the Soviet Union collapsed and Czechoslovakia, as it was called at the time, was established. I went all the way down to the entrance of the Legion Bridge at the end of the street and came back because I was planning to visit the other side of the Vltava River tomorrow.

Kuzeye doğru yürümeye devam ettim ve Národní Caddesi’ne ulaştım. Bu cadde çeşitli mağaza ve dükkanların bulunduğu bir cadde olup Çekya tarihinde de önemli bir yere sahiptir. Kadife devriminin başlangıcı sayılan 17 Kasım 1989 öğrenci gösterileri bu caddede yapılmış. Daha sonra bildiğiniz gibi bir kaç yıl sonra Sovyetler Birliği dağılmış ve o zamanki adıyla Çekoslovakya kurulmuştur. Caddenin sonundaki Lejyon Köprüsü’nün girişine kadar gidip geri döndüm çünkü Vltava Nehri’nin karşı tarafını yarın gezmeyi planlıyordum.

I started walking back from Národní Street towards the square where the Můstek metro station is. The Můstek metro station was the main point I determined for myself in order not to get lost in Prague : ) While walking in the back streets of Prague Old Town, I came across the Man Hanging Out statue on top of a building. This statue represents Sigmund Freud. Frankly, it looks a bit funny : ) I continued walking in the narrow streets of Prague Old Town with its colorful old houses.

Národní Caddesi’den geriye, Můstek metro istasyonun olduğu meydana doğru yürümeye başladım. Prag’da kaybolmamak için kendime belirlediğim ana nokta Můstek metro istasyonuydu : ) Eski şehrin arka sokaklarında yürürken karşıma bir binanın tepesindeki Asılı Kalmış Adam heykeli çıktı. Bu heykel Sigmund Freud’u temsil etmektedir. Açıkcası biraz da komik duruyor : ) Prag Eski Şehri’nin rengarent eski evlerin bulunduğu dar sokaklarında yürümeye devam ettim.

It was almost five in the evening. Instead of the Můstek metro station, I continued walking towards the back streets of the hotel where I stayed. A huge clock tower caught my eye up ahead. I continued walking towards it and came across Prague Old Town Square. Actually, this was the first place I was supposed to visit and it wasn’t far from the hotel, but I had already passed the streets I was going to walk through tomorrow. The Old Town Square is set up on a very large area. If included the St. Nicholas Church, it houses four important monuments. You would feel as if you were in the Middle Ages. Since it is a common place for many tourist groups, the Old Town Square was quite crowded. I will leave you alone with these beautiful buildings in Prague Old Town Square.

Saat akşam beşe geliyordu. Můstek metro istasyonu yerine kaldığım otelin arka sokaklarına doğru yürümeye devam ettim. İlerde devasa bir saat kulesi gözüme çarptı. Oraya doğru yürümeye devam ettim ve karşıma Prag Eski Şehir Meydanı çıktı. Aslında ilk gelmem gereken yer buraydı ve otele de çok uzak değilmiş, ama yine de yarın gezeceğim sokaklardan şimdiden geçmiş oldum. Eski Şehir Meydanı oldukça geniş bir alana kurulmuş. Aziz Nikolas Kilisesi’ni de sayarsak üzerinde dört tane önemli yapıt barındırıyor. Kendinizi adeta Orta Çağda hissediyorsunuz. Birçok turist grubunun uğradığı ortak ana bir yer olduğundan Eski Şehir Meydanı oldukça kalabalıktı. Sizi Prag Eski Şehir Meydanı’ndaki bu güzel yapıtlarla baş başa bırakıyorum.

After taking photos, I sat down somewhere in the Old Town Square to rest. I was already quite tired. It was past six o'clock. Having walked around the Old Town Square for a while and taken a few more photos, I went back to the hotel to rest and thus I finished my first day in Prague. My friend @phortun hasn't been very active on HIVE in recent months. Perhaps, if I could have got in touch with him, he could have shown me around Prague : )

Fotoğraf çektikten sonra dinlenmek için Eski Şehir Meydanında bir yerde oturdum. Artık oldukça yorulmuştum. Saat altıyı geçiyordu. Eski Şehir Meydanı etrafında biraz daha gezip birkaç fotoğraf daha çektikten sonra dinlenmek için otele gittim ve böylece Prag’taki ilk günümü tamamladım. Dostum @phortun son aylarda HIVE’da pek aktif görünmüyor. Onunla iletişim kurabilseydim belki bana Prag’ı gezdirirdi : )
