My Prague & Vienna Tour - Part 6: The Last and Rainy Day In Prague [ENG-TUR]

As I mentioned in my previous travel posts, I don't like the vacation format that goes between hotel, sea and foods. I want to discover new places at homeland or abroad as much as possible. Before the pandemic, I traveled abroad every year. However, the pandemic caused millions of people, including me, to change their travel plans for at least 2 years. After the pandemic, it was time for me to start traveling abroad. Last year, I did this by going to Thessaloniki, Greece. I made some changes for the third choice of my international travel in this year. I visited the capitals of Czechia and Austria. I will write about my last day in Prague in the sixth part of my Prague & Vienna travel posts series.

Önceki seyahat yazılarımda da belirttiğim gibi otel, deniz ve yemek arasında geçip giden tatil anlayışını sevmiyorum. Yurtiçinde veya yurtdışında mümkün olduğunca yeni yerler keşfetmek istiyorum. Pandemiden önce her yıl yurtdışı seyahatleri yapan biriydim. Fakat, pandemi benim gibi dünyada milyonlarca insanların seyahat planlarını en az 2 yıl değiştirmesine sebep oldu. Pandemiden sonra benim için artık yurtdışı seyahatlerime başlamanın zamanı gelmişti. Geçen sene bunu Yunanistan’ın Selanik şehrine giderek gerçekleştirdim. Bu yılki üçüncü yurtdışı seyahat tercihimde biraz değişiklik yaptım. Çekya ve Avusturya’nın başkentlerini ziyaret ettim. Prag & Viyana gezi yazısı serimin altıncı bölümünde sizlere, Prag’taki son günümden bahsedeceğim.

I was very tired after returning from Vienna. The three-day vacation was like a week-long vacation for me. The next day was my last day in Prague and I would be returning to Istanbul. The check-out time was early. After spending some time at Prague Old Town Square, I went to the hotel and rested. I left the hotel around nine in the morning. Since the plane’s departure time was five, I had almost half a day to spend in Prague. However, there was a problem; the weather in Prague became cold and was rainy. First, I had breakfast on this beautiful street.

Viyana dönüşü çok yorulmuştum. Üç günlük tatil, bana sanki bir haftalık tatil gibi gelmişti. Ertesi gün Prag’taki son günümdü ve İstanbul’a dönecektim. Otelden ayrılış saatim de erkendi. Prag Eski Şehir Meydanı’nda gece bir süre zaman geçirdikten sonra otele gidip dinlendim. Sabah saat dokuz gibi otelden ayrıldım. Uçağın kalkış saati beş olduğu için Prag’ta geçicerek hemen hemen yarım günüm vardı. Fakat, bir sorun vardı, Prag’ta hava soğumuştu ve yağmurluydu. Öncelikle bu güzel caddede kahvaltı yaptım.

Frankly, I would like to see Prague Old Town Square on a rainy day as well. Sure, the rain could not be an obstacle for tourists and tourist groups. This time, there were tourists and tourist groups walking around the square with umbrellas.

Prag Eski Şehir Meydanı’nı yağmurlu bir günde de görmek istedim açıkcası. Tabi, yağmur turistler ve turist grupları için bir engel olamazdı. Bu kez, meydanda şemsiye ile gezen turist ve turist grupları vardı.

Walking through the stone-paved, medieval streets of Prague Old Town in the rain was also a different experience. I had come to Wenceslas Square, where the Můstek metro station is, through the back streets. I had passed through this square/ boulevard several times during my visit to Prague , but I had never been to the St. Wenceslas Monument and the National Museum, which are at the end of this boulevard and in the New Town because there was roadwork going on there and the National Museum was under restoration. I didn’t want to leave Prague without seeing these places, so I walked in the rain to the end of the square/boulevard.

Yağmurlu bir havada Prag Eski Şehri’nin taş döşeli, Orta Çağ’dan kalma sokaklarında yürümek de farklı bir histi. Ara sokaklardan Můstek metro durağının olduğu Wenceslas Meydanı’na gelmiştim. Prag’ta olduğum günlerde bu meydandan/bulvardan çok kez geçmiştim, ama bu bulvarın sonunda ve Yeni Şehir’de bulunan Aziz Wenceslas Anıtı’ı ve Ulusal Müze’nin yanına hiç gitmemiştim çünkü o tarafa doğru bir yol çalışması vardı ve Ulusal Müze de restorasyon içindeydi. Prag’a gelmişken buraları da görmeden gitmek istemedim ve yağmur altında yürüyerek meydanın/bulvarın sonuna kadar geldim.

The rain had intensified. Before I would have got wet much more and risk missing the plane, I came at the Můstek metro stop at the beginning of the square/boulevard. I think an ancient structure was discovered during the excavation of this metro stop. I first had to go to the Nádraží Veleslavín metro stop in order to take the 59 bus to the airport. I arrived at Nádraží Veleslavín in about 15 minutes. I can say that it takes another 15 minutes by bus from Nádraží Veleslavín to Prague Václav Havel Airport. Among the cities I have visited, I can say that Prague is the easiest city to reach from the airport.

Yağmur şiddetini arttırmıştı. Daha fazla ıslanmadan ve uçağı kaçırma riski almadan meydanın/bulvarın başındaki Můstek metro durağına geldim. Bu metro durağının kazısında antik zamandan kalma bir yapı ortaya çıkmış sanırım. Havalanına giden 59 nolu otobüse binmek için önce Nádraží Veleslavín metro durağına gitmem gerekiyordu. Yaklaşık 15 dakikada Nádraží Veleslavín’e vardım. Nádraží Veleslavín’den otobüsle Prag Václav Havel Havaalanı’na da bir 15 dakika daha sürüyor diyebilirim. Gezdiğim şehirler arasında Prag, havaalanından şehre ulaşımı en kolay olan şehir diyebilirim.

When I arrived at Prague Václav Havel Airport, there were 3 hours left until the plane took off. During this time, I had a chance to rest before the flight at least. I landed in Istanbul at around 8pm and completed my short but full three-day Prague & Vienna tour. I was very tired, but it was worth it. If you love history and architecture, in other words cultural tourism, like me, Prague and Vienna are two cities in Europe that you should definitely visit. I think you can visit these two cities to the fullest in about a week. I would not recommend going on a tour because there are so many structures to visit in detail and take photos of that you may not have the chance to do these things if you go on a tour.

Prag Václav Havel Havaalanı’na vardığımda uçağın kalkmasına 3 saat vardı. Bu sürede, uçak yolculuğu öncesinde en azından dinlenme fırsatım olmuştu. Akşam saat sekiz gibi İstanbul’a indim ve üç günlük kısa ama benim için dolu dolu geçen Prag & Viyana gezi turumu tamamladım. Çok yorulmuştum ama buna değmişti. Benim gibi tarih ve mimari, yani kültür turizmini, seviyorsanız Prag ve Viyana Avrupa’da kesinlikle görülmesi gereken iki şehir. Yaklaşık bir haftalık bir zaman diliminde bu iki şehrin doya doya gezilebileceğini düşünüyorum. Tur ile gitmenizi tavsiye etmem çünkü detaylıca gezilecek ve fotoğraf çekeceğiniz o kadar çok yapıt var ki turla gidersiniz pek bunları yapma fırsatınız olmayabilir.

As for travelling alone, I can say that there are positive and negative aspects. First of all, you can visit wherever you want, whenever you want, and take as many photos as you want. You don’t have to follow someone else’s plan, or someone else doesn’t have to follow your plan. Travelling alone naturally requires you to communicate more with other people, and you can even make new friends. As for the negative aspects, there is no one to help you if something happens to you. You may have trouble taking photos of yourself, other than selfies, at historical places. You have to ask someone else for this. You have to research transportation, places to visit, places to eat, etc. by yourself. However, doing this with a travel companion lightens the burden on you.

Tek başına tatil konusuna gelince, pozitif ve negative tarafları var diyebilirim. Öncelikle, istediğiniz yeri istediğiniz zamanda gezebiliyor, istediğiniz kadar fotoğraf çekebiliyorsunuz. Bir başkasının planına uymak zorunda değilsiniz veya bir başkası sizin planınıza uymak zorunda değil. Tek başına tatile gitmenin doğası gereği diğer insanlarla daha çok iletişim kurma ihtiyacı duyuyorsunuz, hatta yeni arkadaşlıklar edinebiliyorsunuz. Negatif taraflarına gelince, başınıza bir şey geldiğinde size yardım edecek birisi yoktur. Tarihi yerlerde selfi dışında kendi fotoğrafınızı çekme konusunda sıkıntı yaşayabiliyorsunuz. Bunu bir başkasından rica etmeniz gerekiyor. Ulaşım, gezilecek, yemek yenilecek v.s. yerleri kendi başınıza araştırmanız gerekiyor. Halbuki, bunu yol arkadaşıyla yapmak üzerinizdeki yükü hafifletiyor.
