One issue I am having with most aspiring entrepreneurs is the fact that they want to start big even when they do not have the resources to do it. As a result of this, their ideas end up with them. Some go around looking for huge amounts of money to start up their businesses. Some go to the extent of seeking a loan to start up a business, which is a very bad idea, according to me. Getting a loan to start a business is not a wise decision, getting a loan for a business should be for expansion. This is because the business interest should be able to service the loan. So getting a loan to start a business might not be able to provide enough to service the loan adequately. So, back to the main essence of this write-up, an aspiring businessperson should be ready to start their business with what he has. The business should not necessarily be a huge one at the start.

Lots of businesses thriving today started small. The truth is, if one truly believes in his ideas, he should be able to incubate them till they reach a bigger level. Most times, when businesses start small, it has a tendency to thrive because the owner will learn a lot from the business compared to starting big, hence you have no absolute control over the business. Another advantage of starting your business with what you have is that, if the business collapses, you won’t spend your life paying debt. You know that you’re not indebted to anyone.

As someone who began doing business at a tender age, I understood the joy in using what you have to begin a business. You might end up waiting for a long time if you want to start big. There is nothing wrong with starting a business. However, when the resources are not readily available, it is important to start with what you have. A friend of mine shared a business idea with me last year and told me that the business would require a huge amount of money to start. He mentioned that he would love to get some equipment and other stuff. I advised him to start with what he had, but he derailed from my advice and went about looking for whom to invest in his business. To date, he hasn’t been able to start the business. Had it meant that he began with the little he had, he would have been able to get some of the equipment. There’s power in a little beginning. No matter how little your beginning is, with consistency and efficient knowledge, one can grow a little and insignificant business into a giant. All you need is to just start.
