TBT New Year in Pandemic (ENG/ENG)

The pictures I am going to show you below have a bittersweet taste for me and my family, because as you could see in the title of this post, it was a pandemic new year, we were welcoming the year 2021. I say that it has a bittersweet taste because first of all it was the first new year that I spent with my family and my neighbors (we never stayed at home, I always go to my village with my sister while my wife and daughters stay at home with the oldest aunt) but due to the world situation and the recommendations not to leave home we decided to stay, we prepared a delicious traditional new year's dinner and we had dinner together. I was happy and so was my family, but there was still homesickness in the air, homesickness of not being with the extended family.
Las fotografías que les voy a mostrar a continuación tienen un sabor agridulce para mi y para mi familia, ya que tal como ustedes pudieron comprobar en el título de este post, se trata de un año nuevo en pandemia, estábamos recibiendo el año 2021. Digo que tiene un sabor agridulce porque en primer lugar era el primer año nuevo que yo pasaba con mi familia y mis vecinos (jamás nos quedábamos en casa, yo siempre me voy a mi pueblo con mi hermana mientras mi esposa e hijas se quedan en casa la tía mayor) pero debido a la situación mundial y a las recomendaciones de no abandonar el hogar decidimos quedarnos, preparamos una rica cena tradicional de año nuevo y cenamos juntos. Yo estaba feliz y mi familia también, pero aún así se sentía la nostalgia en el aire, la nostalgia de no estar con la familia extendida.
Our neighbors were outside and invited us to hang out with them and we decided to accept, yes, using the proper masks and keeping a little distance, I will not deny it, we had fun and shared a different experience, we talked by video calls to those who were far away, but at some point after receiving the new year, my wife broke down for not being with her family (her sisters, brothers-in-law and nephews), It was a very hard blow for the family, because there was no funeral or burial, only cremation due to the terrible world situation, but at least in a way we gave each other support and showed each other the immense love we felt.
Nuestros vecinos estaban afuera y nos invitaron a pasar el rato junto a ellos y decidimos aceptar, eso sí, usando los debidos tapabocas y guardando un poco las distancias, no lo voy a negar, nos divertimos y compartimos una experiencia diferente, hablamos por videollamadas a los que estaban lejos, pero en algún punto después de recibir el año nuevo, mi esposa se quebró por no estar con los suyos (sus hermanas, cuñados y sobrinos) lo pero de todo es que unos meses después una de sus hermanas murió a causa del Covid, fue un durísimo golpe para la familia, porque no hubo funeral ni entierro, solo cremación debido a la terrible situación mundial, pero al menos de cierto modo nos dimos apoyo los unos a los otros y nos demostramos el inmenso amor que sentimos.
At least we were able to live a different experience sharing time with neighbors and friends.
Al menos pudimos vivir una experiencia diferente compartiendo tiempo con los vecinos y amigos.
