3 Movies banned in some countries [ESP/ENG]
<center
Honestly I don't consider myself a film buff, however I must admit that from time to time, especially on weekends I like to watch movies and it has always been that way, therefore over the years I have had the opportunity to see some films that have been very controversial or have given a lot to talk about and have even been banned in some countries, and although there are times when I agree with the bans because I consider that the producers have gone too far, on other occasions I think that perhaps they were misinterpreted, in this post I will talk about some of them (3 to be more specific) and I will give you my opinion on the matter.
The Gods must be crazy
Los Dioses deben estar locos

This film came out in 80s, and although I'm not a fan of the comedy genre, I wanted to see it because it had really become very popular, at least in my country (Venezuela). The plot was really very basic because it was mostly about demonstrating physical and absurd humor, but it worked very well at that time. It was about a tribe of African indigenous people who suddenly believe themselves "blessed" by the gods when a very curious artifact falls from the sky. In reality, it was an empty Coca-Cola bottle that the pilot of a small plane irresponsibly threw through their window. At first, the tribe is amazed by this novel artifact, which brings many benefits because they use it for multiple tasks. However, it later generates conflicts when everyone wants to own it. So the chief of the tribe decides to take matters into his own hands by traveling to the land of the "gods" to return the gift. However, along the way, he meets some tourists who experience curious, absurd, and funny situations.
The film generated controversy for many reasons. Some said it was full of stereotypes; on the other hand, it was discovered that the film's protagonist was a real indigenous person who had no idea what he was doing... perhaps labor exploitation? Honestly, they may be right and it is full of stereotypes, but it's something that shouldn't have upset people so much at the time. Cinema was full of absurd stereotypes back then. However, even if the labor exploitation thing was true, that does generate conflict for me. The truth is that it was banned in several countries. However, I think they should have looked at it more objectively and beyond the absurd humor and the apparent reinforcement of stereotypes. For example, I perceive it as a mockery of consumerism, what the market sometimes tries to make us believe: that we need a certain product, and in the end, this ends up generating discord in society, making us ask ourselves several questions: Do we really need it? Is it worth losing friendships and even peace of mind for something you didn't even have before?
The Da Vinci Code
El Código Da Vinci

The plot suggests that Jesus may have married Mary Magdalene and had a family with her, but that the Catholic Church, and Christianity in general, may have hidden this information for political purposes, probably to avoid a catastrophe. According to the plot, Da Vinci gave certain signs of this through his most famous works, especially the painting "The Last Supper." This sparked a great controversy that led to the film being banned in many countries, where it was considered disrespectful to use Jesus' name for conspiracy themes. To be fair, the film only portrayed what the book intended to convey.
If you ask me my opinion on this I can only tell you that it is extremely delicate to mix religion into these matters, because what some might take as a simple work of fiction to move the masses and make money with it, for others it could be a terrible blasphemy, and I honestly think it is disrespectful to do this, we should be more objective when touching on sensitive issues, Jesus is a very important figure for Christianity and should not be taken lightly, just like Muhammad, Buddha or any other important religious figure.
Maus

It is based on the comic by Art Spiegelman, which portrays the Holocaust by replacing people with animals, the victims as mice and the Nazis as cats (quite appropriate). This film was banned, as was the comic in several countries due to its alleged "insensitivity" because they thought that caricaturing the characters took away from the seriousness of the story, however from my point of view it is not like that, in fact I find the comparison quite appropriate, cats are cunning and shrewd animals, but it is no secret that they often hunt not out of necessity but for fun, they enjoy the terror they cause to their prey, on the other hand mice are numerous but despite their number they are fearful. On the other hand it is perhaps a brilliant way to teach history to children, showing the truth without hurting sensibilities
Well, there are many films throughout history that have been banned and censored, but ultimately, the public has the final say and should be the one to decide whether or not to consume a certain product. What do you think?

That's strange to see that those movies are actually banned in some countries. The Gods must be crazy is my favorite childhood movie. It's really funny and something that really made me laugh till my stomach hurts.
Yes, even the Gods Must Be Crazy movies were funny to me, and I don't really like comedy movies.
After watching the trailer of this movie and reading your post, I liked it. I will try to watch it when I have time. Good review
There are several films. Which one would you like to see? They're somewhat controversial for the reasons I explained. Thanks for commenting.
Welcome my friend 🧡
I saw the first movie several times when I was little; it actually made me laugh a lot, and I think it's two movies. I'm not familiar with the last one. Thanks for this list.
Yes, I think there are actually many films in this franchise, but as I said, they were canceled in some countries due to misinterpretation or a simple lack of sense of humor. Thanks for commenting
