When Values Lead the Way
When it comes to decision-making, regardless of how simple or trivial it is, it's always highly essential we make the right decision, and when we talk about the right decision, it always varies depending on the individual, and that's because we've all got different principles and values that we live by. The same is the case for me; these values are what help me live my life not just to my satisfaction but also to live a life that positively impacts the lives of people around me, so in light of that, I'll be writing about the values that shape my life decisions in this article.
To start with, it's worth noting that all of these values I'll be writing about below were shaped by both the guidance and mentorship I got from my parents, teachers, and elders around me as well as from the enormous experiences I've gathered in life, and as I grow, I get to drop some, pick up some, and develop some, and go on to make them stand as the driving force behind the decisions I make in every aspect of my life, and I can't help but be thankful to everyone life has made my path cross with, because these values are a testament to our encounters.
One of those values is my priority on peace of mind and the value I place on relationships. I have the belief that everyone around us has a role to play in shaping our lives, and that's why I don't like to leave a bad impression on people around me, but inasmuch as I want to maintain relationships, I always value my peace of mind, and that's why when I notice a relationship is taking a toll on my mental health, I won't hesitate to keep my distance. Prioritizing peace of mind has helped me avoid a lot of issues and arguments because rather than begin to trade words with people, I'd just silently walk away, meaning I understand that my peace of mind is as important as nurturing bonds.
Another of the values that shape my decision-making is empathy and gratitude. Empathy in the sense that I always put myself in the shoes of others before I take any decisions, and this helps me realize what it'll feel like if the same is done to me. And that's why most times I just choose to forgive and move on with my life rather than hold grudges; it also helps me to be modest with not just my words but also my actions.
I've come to understand the fact that the decisions we make can either make or mar our lives, and that's why I take each one strictly by the helm of my core values, and that's why most decisions I make have become much easier because I usually weigh them against my values before I delve into them and question if such a decision will reflect kindness, strengthen the right relationships, and overall still let me have my peace of mind. If, at the end of the day, the answer is yes, then I know for a fact that I'm on the right path.

Decision making is very key in our lives because it’s basically what shapes your path. That is why I don’t allow others influence my decisions and equally try not to influence other’s decisions
Relationship is indeed very important for human survival, I try as much as possible to maintain my relationship with others, but when I don't find peace, I leave for my peace.
