What Makes a House a Home Beyond Four Walls

When it comes to the house where we lay our head and raise our family, a lot of people are usually extra cautious about it and tend to lay down some criteria they feel such a building must possess for it to befit their standard. I can't help but agree with such people because I, for one, also have things I would be on the lookout for if I wanted to rent a place, because I believe those things will go a long way in making me have a wonderful stay throughout my days there, and in this article today I'd be telling you all about those things and many more.

You see, one thing about me is that I love to live in a good place. While I understand that living in a house that meets my taste would definitely require a lot of financial sacrifices, I still won't let that hold me back from getting something close to it that is within my budget or capacity. For instance, when I want to rent a place, I tend to do research about the place to find out how safe it is, what the level of crime is in that place, and if renting a house there won't in a way mean I'm signing a deal to willingly put my family in danger at one point in time or another.

Aside from this, I also want a house in a place that has one of the best power supplies in the vicinity, and that's one of the things I put into consideration during the last time I was in search of a place I can call home for the next few years. Electricity is a big deal in our world today, and as we all know, almost everything is being powered by it in this age. That's why I put it into consideration when renting a house. I remember the last time I was searching, I ended up getting a place in one of the vicinities that gets the most electricity supply in my community.

One other thing I do put into consideration when picking a house is proximity to my place of work. I won't want to live miles away from my place of work. I remember how much my grandfather used to wake up as early as 5am to leave for work so he could arrive on time because we live in Ajegunle, Apapa, and he works in Jakande. This usually goes on to restrict the amount of time he gets to spend with his family to just a few hours because he also arrives home in the dead of the night. The same was the case with my dad until he retired. I don't want the same situation with me, and that's exactly why I'd definitely be putting that into serious consideration.

Something else I would put into consideration because it's on my criteria is assurance that such a house must have a secure premises, with the house being fenced, not only to prevent dangers from coming in but also to prevent my children from delving into dangers from the house—a house fenced, gated, and safe. Additionally, it should also be well ventilated, spacious, and comfortable to live in. If all that can be assured, then I'm definitely going to be putting my money on a house that possesses all those features I just highlighted above.

Yes, I understand I'm not a house owner today, but I know I'll be one in the near future, and when that becomes a reality, I'd love to have a gentle, cool-headed tenant who's decent and well-mannered and won't turn my house into a noise or pollution den. If I can get a tenant like that, I'll be okay. So that's about it on the kind of house I'd like to rent and the criteria it just met.

Every landlord would wish to have a non problematic tenant but how would you know that a particular tenant possesses the criteria you've listed when they can actually pretend just to get in probably because the home is affordable.

One of my neighbour is a very manipulative woman that feels like she has control over a man. She would pour very dirty water in front of her home and then the water would run down to other tenants doorsteps we've complained so many times but she would always insult us. Until we reported her to the landlord but she found a way to convince him otherwise but a day came when the landlord paid us a suprise visit and she was caught in the act. He promised to give her a quick notice if he hears about any of her ill doings.

Oh, I never thought of the distance to work as a criteria. And that could be because I want to work from home. Lol. Thank you for calling that out.

As a future landlord, I honestly will want a tenant like me. but from experience, not all landlords appreciate unproblematic tenants.

Having good tenants is what every house owner prays for and vice versa.

Considering proximity is key. It won’t even make sense when you pay so much to get a comfortable home somewhere away from your work place and basic needs. It will only make you feel frustrated at some point.

There are some tenants that make living unbearable, especially when they don't take care of the house they live in. I wouldn't want such kind of people when I have my own house, too. Factors like the ones mentioned in your post are definitely worth looking out for if you want to live in a good place and be safe from any threat or danger.
