Volunteering for Community Cleanliness

The cleanliness of our community is a collective responsibility that must be upheld at all times in order to have a safe planet that's void of disease, germs, and disasters that can harm us, and that's why we as individuals shouldn't leave it all for the government to do but to play our path at every given opportunity to ensure that our community is neat, tidy, and safe, and that's why I've on several occasions both individuals and collectively indulged in community services to make my community safe for all.

It's quite disheartening when I see people who indulge in acts that can go on to endanger we the communists, and more annoying when you try to point out their errors and correct them, and they take it negatively as though you're trying to play righteous, not knowing you're only striving for the good of everyone, especially our planet, and that's because when our planted is safe, clean, and void of issues, then we that reside therein will live in peace without being afraid of what might come.

Take, for instance, about two months ago, when we were actively in the raining season, some of my neighbors used the opportunity of the continuous rainfall as an avenue to dispose of their refuse into the drainage system, and one time when I spotted them doing that, I walked up to them and let them know that what they're doing isn't ideal and shouldn't be done because it poses a danger to we ourselves, our community, and the planet at large.

I let the neighbor in question know that one of the reasons why we've got many mosquitoes that spread malaria all around is because we pour our waste into the drainage system or leave them all around without property disposing of them, which leads to attracting such pests as mosquitoes and them biting us and infesting us with malaria. Also, may they understand that such refuse, when thrown into the drainage system, will later pile up in a place and block the drainage, leading to blockage of water flow and ultimately leading to flooding in our community.

Some of my neighbors listen to me and change their ways, while others just shout at you and continue with their terrible act, but once and I others have made it a point of duty to make sure we won't give room for such again in our community, those who used to disobey such orders have no choice but to follow them because the community collective threatened to report them to the authority, which might lead to jail time or punishment of a month of community service for indulging in such habits.

Since that time, we now have a clean street and community, and it's been a pleasant experience for everyone around me, and when we notice dirt on the floor, we don't just wait for those in charge to come clean it; instead, we dispose of it into the nearest wastebin around. Aside from this, I've also indulged in numerous community services, like during my NYSC days when me and my fellow corp members went to a village to help them out in making their community clean and safe for everyone.

We went to that village in the far north, where basically everywhere was literate with waste, and we swept every nuke and cranny of the village, making it neat and pleasant to the eyes. The communists saw this and were pleased. Their every thought was we'd charge them for the service rendered, but we said it's all for free and sensitized them on the need to maintain a clean environment for the good of everyone.

Which they promised to uphold going forward, because they themselves were pleased with how pleasant to the eyes their street became from initially when it used to be dirty and piled with refuse, so in a nutshell, let all join hands together in making our community cleanliness our personal priority, and I'll leave you with this proverb: "A peace to the tree means peace to the bird whose nest is built on it."
