Navigating the Pros and Cons of Comparing Yourself to Others
Life is in stages, and we humans are different and unique in our own way, and so do we as well achieve our goals at different points in time, while to some they're getting fulfilled at an early age, and for others it takes years, and such can lead to disappointment and the like. One of the results of such a situation is that it can make us compare ourselves with others, and that's an act that works like a two-edged sword that can either end well or badly, and today I'll love to share my personal experience of comparing myself with others.
Like I said earlier, comparing ourselves can be either good or bad, and that's because it can either make or meer out life, and that usually depends on the capability of such an individual to handle and deal with what they find after comparing themselves with others, and I said this because I've seen and witnessed the benefits and downside of what comparison can bring to an individual firsthand.
Take, for instance, when I first joined hive blockchain and was ambitious about growing my account. I started exploring the blockchain so as to learn and as well gain knowledge, experience, and understanding of how things work, and during that period one thing I used to do was pay visits to some top Hivers wallets. Of course, I know they've got a fat wallet, but my purpose of going was to get inspiration, because looking at their wallet, I have it at the back of my mind that what they've got at that moment is my ambition for the near future.
But then aside from getting inspiration from such, I proceeded to visit the accounts of newbies like me, and each time I indulge in such an act, it's mainly to compare our growth and progress on the hive. Blockchain, on the positive side, when I pay a visit to someone's account and I see them doing better than I'm despite the fact that we were both new, I try to observe them and learn to know what they're doing differently so I can do the same and excel like they're doing.
Also, such comparisons help me start a healthy race, or should I say competition within myself, that goes on to be a natural inspiration that pushes me to be consistent, get better, and improve myself as a content writer, and many more, to mention but a few, so in that aspect you'll see that such comparisons help me grow and push me to be better than I used to be.
But on the other hand, such comparison can also be bad, especially in a situation where you compare yourself with someone and then you realize it's not like they're as good as you're and yet they're thriving while you struggle. Such comparison can lead to discouragement, in a way whereby you're not motivated to put in great effort in your content, and it can as well lead to depression and the like, or as far worse, envying the other people's progress and the like.
But overall, regardless of the outcome of a comparison, we as a person are still in control of the wheel and can navigate our life and continence in the direction that we know would help us, so we should try as much as possible to draw inspiration and motivation from the conclusion of a comparison rather than let it weigh us down.
In fact, comparing ourselves to someone that's better than we're can lead to us being blinded to our own little progress and being grateful for the small win, so regardless of the results of a comparison, try to stay motivated, pick up the positivity in it, and make it help your journey rather than letting it halt your progress.

Comparison kills. Although as you pointed, it has its effects. It has its advantages and yet, it is a double edged sword. We need to understand where we draw the line in these things
Yea that's absolutely correct, knowing when to draw the line is the wisest thing one can do to living happy life thereafter.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback.
