Navigating the Delicate Decision Art and Coping with Setbacks

As important as making a decision is to progress in whatever it's we're doing, yet concluding in such a decision and taking it into account isn't an easy task whatsoever, and that's because of how delicate it can be, especially when you consider what would happen if the decision didn't meet our expectations. With that in mind, I've decided to write about everything that revolves around my decision-making in this article, and I hope you find it valuable.

What I consider when making decisions:

One thing about me is that before I make a decision, I have to spend loads of hours brooding around different aspects of such a situation, some of which are as stated below:

  • Get aquinted with the subject matter: My first consideration before making a decision is getting aquinted with the situation and knowing what it's all about. I also know that it's important to know what level of importance such things hold, and that's what will give me a clear picture of the amount of time and how serious I should be before jumping to a conclusion about it.

  • Define the scope of the situation: after getting a clear picture of what it's all about, what I basically do is define the situation in terms of its level of importance, my plans, goals, and objectives, which makes me want to decide on that.

  • Acquire information about the situation: another thing I do is to get as much information as possible about the situation and everything that revolves around it, and that information is what aids my decision when I finally arrive at that point, and that's not forgetting that the information gotten can revolve around knowing about others who have walked in the same direction and either succeeded or failed, and then understanding why either of those things happened to them.

  • Evaluate my options: once information has been gotten, that means I'm getting a clearer picture bit by bit, but I still can't jump onto making a decision. Instead, what I mostly do is come up with different options and ideas on how to go about it, and while doing that, I can easily identify the flaws in each one to filter them out from my options.

  • Seek help: although I'm the type who doesn't like to seem vulnerable, that doesn't stop me from seeking help, and sometimes I might even sugar-quote my inquiry in a way where I'll just get the needed advice without seeming like I truly need it, but when it's with someone I'm close to, I let off my guide and just open myself to learning from their own experience and options and then putting them into consideration with mine.

  • Deciding: and one of all these dots has been clicked. I basically just think everything through and then come up with the best options that seem good enough to me among the options I get from my critical thinking and findings from others.

How long does it take me to decide?

When it comes to how long it takes me to decide, I can categorically say as long as possible. Even though some decisions might be time-bound, I still try as much as possible to take my time to consider all of the situations that revolve around them, such as assessing the risk and benefits, putting my personal values and philosophy into consideration, the long-term impact of the decision, and much more, to mention but a few.

Dealing with the disappointment of a failed decision:

This can be a very hard pill to swallow, but we must continue with our lives and simply go through the situation to know, understand what we didn't do wrongly, and, via that, learn from the experience, make it a focal point to consider in future decisions, reflect on expectations, celebrate the small victory achieved, and stay positive for future purposes.

That's about all for now. I hope you enjoyed the read. Do have a wonderful night rest and God bless.

The above steps are really commendable. It showed how you carefully analyze and scrutinize every information before taking a decision.

Deciding on decisions can be hard sometimes which also takes time but when one goes through the possible steps of making sure nothing go wrong, it makes it possible to achieve a tangible result in the end. These are great steps on your path to coming to a good conclusion on something you decide to go for.

You have a rigid way of weighing your options around a decision before making taking a move.

As for me, most decisions are based on time, best and important.

Yea we still consider the available time, but amist that, we should rush into a decision.

Who doesn't want everything to go right the first time? we often judge ourselves when something goes wrong, but as I always say, we are not fortune tellers, failed decisions are inevitable and we must see them as an opportunity to learn and grow.
