The heart of Valentine's day : Spreading love and kindness
Valentines day is a season of love, a time to show love to everyone you care about. It's not just about romantic love, it's also about friends and family. For me, valentines day is a reminder to be kind to people, to show love but I think love shouldn't be shown on just February 14th, it should be shown everyday.
Love is not just about words, it's about the little things that make one happy. It can be sending a text message to check on someone or buying a small gift. I remember growing up, in secondary school if valentines day fall on a week day we buy gifts for our friends and boyfriends, we also exchange card gifts and all. Some buy teddy bears, wrist watches and even cookies or candies. I always looked forward to that day because it was filled with joy and excitement. As I grew older, I realized that love is not just about gifts but about being there for people when they need you.
One thing I love about Valentine’s Day is that it reminds me to reflect on the people in my life who have been there for me. It is a time to appreciate family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers who have shown kindness in different ways.
- MY VALENTINE PLANS
I was hoping to spend this valentine with my husband and family but this year's valentine happened to be a working day and I have to be at work, so I'll celebrate the valentine with my children at school.
Even though I was at work, I still showed love in small ways. I didn't have much but you don't have to have much to show love, I bought small gifts for some of the children who showed me love and promised to get more by Monday as what I got wasn't what I was expecting, the love I got from my children at school was massive and I didn't expect it. One of our staff who wasn't a teacher felt she wasn't loved as she didn't receive gifts and we, her fellow staffs help out a smile on her face. I was so happy to see her smile and that's what love is.
Valentine’s Day is not just about romance; it is about making people feel valued. It is about spreading happiness and reminding people that they matter. Even though I was at work, I made sure to put a smile on faces.
Love should not be limited to just one day; it should be something we practice every day. Being kind, helping others, and showing appreciation should be a daily habit, not just a Valentine’s Day tradition.
So even though I did not have grand plans, I made sure to put smiles on people's faces.Love is not measured by how much you give but by the sincerity behind your actions. That is what Valentine’s Day means to me.
