Learning from life risks
Everytime we step onto the road, there is a chance it could be our last day. But we just go out with faith that we will return. I remember one day when returning from the market, I had a close encounter with death, I was really shaken after that incident.
the image is scar from the tricycle accident I had.
I was still in senior secondary school then, my mom had traveled to come back during the weekend. Before going she had instructed me on what to do and when to do it, one of the things she had asked me to do was to buy meat from the market while returning from school so we can use it to cook night food.
So on that very day after school had closed, my friend and I strolled down to the market to buy the meat. That was my first time going to market. On getting to the market, we saw different people selling meat and all of them kept calling us to come and buy from them that they will sell well for us. We didn't know who to go to because of we want to go to one person, another person will call us. We finally decided and went to one and after he cut the meat into pieces, I whispered to one of my friends beside me and asked her if the meat is okay and she replied no so we left.
When we left one of my friends told me of another place that meat is cheaper and I decided to go there. So I first of all went home, took my bath and dressed up and went to the place my friend had described. Luckily for me, the meat was actually cheaper so it was worth the trip.
On my way back from the market I took bike home which I wasn't supposed to, as I got onto the bike I asked the bike man to be careful and he responded in the affirmative. So he started his bike and we moved. Everything was like flash before my eyes because I couldn't really tell how it happened, all I could recall was that the bike I had taken hit another bike and both myself and the other passenger was on the floor, the other lady had fainted due to shock, we had to get rushed to the hospital.
Funny enough in all these, all I could think about was the meat I bought and getting home before my dad so I won't have to explain how ala-roro( I don't know if I got the spelling right but it means someone that is stingy) has nearly killed me. I just thank God for my life, as we got to the hospital we were asked to call family and I just stood up, dusted my body and told them I am fine that I an go home. That was how that day ended oo, I did sustain any major injuries just scratches.
Another accident I had that made me say "the plans of the enemy shall not prevail" was the day I was returning from the hospital after running pregnancy test. I missed my monthly flow and I had to check with the specialist to confirm my own results, I already checked twice and it gave me the same result but I had to confirm as my husband said I should. As I was leaving the hospital, I took bike and we drove to a certain point and tye bike man bumped into a keke-napep( tricycle). I had asked the bike man to wait for the tricycle to pass but as bike men do they don't listen, they think they can pass the smallest of spaces.
That was how I fell of the bike and the keke-napep scratched my leg. The man came down from his Keke and helped me by applying engine oil on it and gave me some money and asked to treat myself, that was how I lost my pregnancy. I wasn't pained about the whole thing just the pregnancy that I had lost was on my mind. After that day I said to myself I will never take bike in my life, but I don't think it's possible for we humans to move without taking bike once in a while, anyways where ever I go, it's bike I take.
The accident left me with scar, but also taught me to appreciate life and the importance of living each day to the fullest.
It also taught me to express gratitude for the blessings in my life and to never take anything for granted.
