How music touches my soul

Here Music is a powerful tool that has many effects on us. It's not to do with sounds or words, but the degree to which emotion is expressed through sounds or words, when words alone don't have the power to express emotion. Music can make me happy, sad and even alive. It always feels like I am on an adventure listening to every song I play and it produces a different feeling.

If i hear a song, right at that moment and there, my state of mind could change. For example, there was a day that I was down with a bad day. I listened to an electrifying music, and all of a sudden, I felt much lighter. That rhythm got me tapping my feet and then I was grinning.

Pleasant music generally brings back positive memories, such as parties, a good laugh with friends, happy moments with family, e.g. It feels like sunshine on a cloudy day. On the one hand music can also make me sad.

Periodically, while playing a slow tempo, painful song, I open up the memories of sadness or of rejection. For instance, when I lost my dear mum, there was a particular song that reminded me of her. It brought me to my knees, but it also got me back up on my feet. Music has a peculiar effect on getting those emotions, which I am trying to hide.

It is as though the artist has grasped my suffering and made it into not just written and spoken words, but into sound. Music can also make me feel alive and pumped. If I listen to tracks with a heavy beat, the world spins around me faster. There is one piece of song which I experience playing during an exercise.

Well, when I have it, I feel like I can take it to the next level, go that extra mile. I remember one time I was doing some chores and I was exhausted and about to stop, but the music was motivating me to keep going. The pace and tension provided me the motivation.

I also believe music can connect us to memories. A song can transport me back to childhood or make me remember faces I haven't seen in years. For example, there is a song that my siblings and I used to sing together as a family, every holiday. Every time I hear it it's calling me back to that blissful time of year and makes me smile.

Music is a matter of personal interpretation, and will therefore have different meanings to each individual. There are people who "take it easy" (for relaxation); And others who "take it up a notch" (for celebration). I use it for everything. When I need comfort, music is there. When I need motivation, music is there. Music is no stranger to when I want it to be more than just an emotion.

At the end of the day, music is not 100% sound, music is about the felt emotions and/or expressions music evokes in the heart. No matter whether it makes us feel good, bad, or alive, it has a way of touching those areas of ourselves that no other thing can. Music is a fellow friend that is always there to accompany us in times of joy and sorrow. That's why I love music, it's life that gives the meaning to every single moment.

How I understand you! Music is a matter of personal interpretation and what meaning we give it becomes reality. That is what I discovered. I can't listen to "Out of the woods" by Taylor Swift and not think of Ning Xi, a fictional character I fell inlove with or listen to "Ole Buruku" by P-Square and not remember my late friend Jennifer.
