Greed VS generosity: choosing kindness in a selfish world

Hello hivers, welcome to my blog, on this week's episode of hive learners prompt questions, I will be responding to one of it's questions which asks: In this present world where optics is more important than actual work, how can one know for sure that the money they donate is actually being used for what it was donated? Do you make donations? How do you ensure that your money gets to who needs it and not in the pockets of some greedy fellow?

Donation is when we voluntarily give or the act of contributing for a specific cause.
People will not let greed allow them do the right thing. They will just focus on outside look than do what they are meant to do. We see a lot of people both online and in our community donating different things just to help the poor and needy, but we can not be certain that the money or things donated will get to the people who it was meant for.

When we talk about donations, it is not just money, it can also be clothes and food. I personally, have donated to the needy, although it was not monetary donation. I was really happy while donating and still look forward to doing more and better. Sometimes, I discuss and talk with my husband and tell him about how I want us to be able to help the poor and needy and opening an orphanage home or something like that and he tells me it is not easy to run such, that I can donate or help in any way but I should not think much of opening one. Well I have removed my mind for now, but hopefully, I will get there.

The first time I made donations was when I was still living with my mom, she always asks us to select our clothes that are no longer our size or we no longer wear and we do just that. We do not know what she does with it till I followed her one day when she went to give the clothes to some people on the street who did not have what to wear. The smile on their faces really brightened my day and it made me to start donating. Even when I don't have much, I will donate what I have till I can give more.

I have read in a lot of places where people give from their heart only to discover later that their kindness was taken for granted. That is why most times when I want to donate, I do not look for big organizations where my donations will likely be misused, I look for people who need it. Some needy people are not under organizations and those are the ones I target whenever I want to donate, because I know my donations will not be misused.

Greed has taken over many people. But I believe good people still exist, and it’s up to us to be wise while still being kind. We should not stop helping, but we should try our best to help in the right way, through the right hands.
