The ancient fortress of Cape St. Atanas

0.jpg

Today I want to tell you about an interesting place I recently visited in the Black Sea town of Byala - Cape St. Atanas, where there is an ancient early Byzantine fortress.

In the southeastern part of the city is the location where а girlfriend and I headed.

From afar, a small chapel can be seen and at the very entrance you can see a miniature model representing the location of the ancient settlement.

Although we arrived at the end of the day, fortunately the site was still open and we were invited to enter and take a leisurely look.

It was exciting to walk among the excavations.

"During the archaeological research, three wineries, a public bath, kilns for the production of ceramic vessels, buildings with different purposes and perhaps the most significant site for science – an early Christian sacral center were discovered."

It was interesting to see up close the massive clay vessels in which wine was once made.

The ancient tools that were used in the process in the past were also impressive.

The beautiful illustrations of impressive size gave an even clearer idea of the work and life of the people who lived in those times.

We also explored the early Christian center.

It consisted of several parts: a basilica, several baptisteries, a well for holy water, and again a huge illustration on one of the walls.

A unique view opened up to the sea with beautiful colors.

We continue the walk and head towards the old lighthouse.

We pass by old ship anchors.

The lighthouse is a white round stone tower and has been operating since 1932.

Those huge vases gives the vibe of being an antique collector. And the surroundings are very natural like if you are that obsess to these designs, you'll really love it, like old fashion but it's super attractive. Thanks for sharing this.
