Along the path of "Blue Pond" and "The Secret Printing House" cave
Today I want to show you some wonderful places that my friends and I visited in Karandila - an area in the Stara Planina.
It is June and our walk in this area was more than fabulous. We started from the Dolapite area and following a well-marked trail, we headed up to Siniya Vir.
It was so beautiful on the way because the trail ran around the Novoselska River. We crossed it with small wooden bridges.
Along the way we came to fountains with clean mountain water and small chapels.
The road alternated between passing through the forest and through open areas, from which magnificent views were revealed and it was overflowing with useful herbs.
There was a lot of yarrow, St. John's wort, thyme.
The river constantly surprised us with beautiful areas, where the rocks formed wonderful shapes. It was full of small pools, tempting to enter them.
In places, the bridges were broken and we had to carefully cross the river, stepping on stones.
We reached three very beautiful waterfalls.
The first one was high up and it was a wonderful feeling to be around it and feel the fine droplets of water passing through your entire body.
The second one was also uniquely beautiful.
This waterfall was surrounded by rocks on all sides and in front of it there was a large rock that we climbed and stood for a while to enjoy the feeling of being around the waterfall.
The third one was the smallest but also had a specific beauty that tempted you to immerse yourself in it.
We continue further up the trail to reach a shelter located in the higher part.
The trees looked majestic.
The blue bells of the Campanula flower were visible everywhere.
We reached the cave "Pechatnitsa" which we decided to enter and explore.
The lower part required a little climbing. There was a metal ladder which made it easier to climb to the higher part.
It was cool and very cramped inside.
Our friend told us that years ago the cave was used as a secret printing house by Sabi Dimitrov (a Bulgarian political figure, associated with the communist movement). There is no written evidence for this cave - only oral traditions.
There were rocks with interesting colors all around.
Soon the path led us to the shelter, which was locked, but there were wonderful wooden benches and tables around where we took a break.
We returned, and on the way I picked a fragrant bouquet of elderberry and yellow yarrow.
