Yesterday’s rain was not heavy. Just enough to change the rhythm of the day and leave small puddles along the edge of the sidewalk. This morning, as I passed by, I saw them resting there, as if the water had decided to stay a little longer to look as well.

In the curb, where almost no one pays attention, the houses appeared inverted. Roofs facing downward, windows floating, walls that seemed more fragile in the water than in reality. It was not the perfect reflection of a mirror; it was a gentle reflection, slightly stirred by the wind, as if it were breathing.

I like the idea that the ordinary can duplicate itself for a moment. The same facades we see every day, firm and solid, become liquid, unstable, almost dreamlike. A little rain is enough for the neighborhood to have another version of itself.

I thought about how we also change depending on the surface where we look at ourselves. There are days when we are structure, wall, resistance. And others when we are reflection: more sensitive, more shifting, more vulnerable to any breeze.

The water will not last long. The sun will dry everything again and the houses will remain only in their usual form. But for a few hours, that other silent landscape existed, hidden at the edge of the sidewalk. And I was grateful to have seen it before it disappeared.

El barrio al revés.

Hola, hermosa comunidad de #ShadowHunters, participo con mucha ilusión en este nuevo concurso, doy las gracias a @olgavita por la convocatoria.

La lluvia de ayer no fue abundante. Apenas lo suficiente para cambiar el ritmo del día y dejar pequeños charcos en el borde de la acera. Esta mañana, al pasar, los vi detenidos allí, como si el agua hubiera decidido quedarse un poco más para mirar también.

En el conten, donde casi nadie presta atención, las casas aparecían invertidas. Techos hacia abajo, ventanas flotando, paredes que parecían más frágiles dentro del agua que en la realidad. No era el reflejo perfecto de un espejo; era un reflejo leve, ligeramente movido por el viento, como si respirara.

Me gusta esa idea de que lo cotidiano pueda duplicarse por un instante. Las mismas fachadas que vemos todos los días, firmes y concretas, se vuelven líquidas, inestables, casi soñadas. Basta un poco de lluvia para que el barrio tenga otra versión de sí mismo.

Pensé en cómo también nosotros cambiamos según la superficie donde nos miremos.
Hay días en que somos estructura, pared, resistencia. Y otros en que somos reflejo: más sensibles, más movedizos, más vulnerables a cualquier brisa.

El agua no durará mucho. El sol volverá a secarlo todo y las casas quedarán solo en su forma habitual. Pero por unas horas existió ese otro paisaje silencioso, escondido en el borde de la acera. Y yo agradecí haberlo visto antes de que desapareciera.
