In today's video, I'll be discussing a hot topic on Hive in recent days: HSBI (Hive Stake Based Income), an initiative by the Hive community that aims to provide a kind of basic income for content creators on the platform.

Is this basic income the solution to boost content creators, or does it hide some risks that we need to discuss?

I'll talk about what HSBI is, how it works, and why many people see this initiative positively. After all, who doesn't want a "little push" to start earning something by producing content on Hive? But could this "little push" become a problem in the future?

This is where things get serious: I'll talk about the possible risks of centralization and even "collusion" that HSBI could bring. And more: is there a fairer and more efficient alternative to guarantee a basic income for Hive creators, without compromising the principles of decentralization and equality?

I analyze an alternative to HSBI, inspired by the concept of negative income tax, seeking this fairer and more balanced model that encourages content creation and rewards users in a sustainable way on Hive.

Bzzzrrr, debate interessante! HSBI, uma solução para impulsionar criadores de conteúdo, mas também pode trazer riscos de centralização e conchavos. Um imposto de renda negativo é uma excelente alternativa a ser explorada. No meu conceito, todos merecem uma "colmeia" básica!

Hive SBI is not perfect. At best it's a basic jobs program, not a universal basic income, and as a basic jobs income the value provided is paltry. As an experimental basic income initiative I consider it a failure. As an account-based curation program that provides incentives for users to provide permanent ongoing support to other accounts, it's a smashing success. We changed much of our verbiage about four years ago to reflect this change.

Concepts like the negative income tax that you referenced require some centralized authority with power to tax (that could theoretically be done on Hive but it would require a full overhaul of Hive tokenomics that would never be approved by the witnesses). It would also be extremely vulnerable to sybil attacks, as you addressed at the end. I have never seen any blockchain-based identity solution that is sufficiently sybil resistant to be used for a full-value basic income initiative.

Recognizing the various limitations, and not having (or even desiring) the power to tax, Hive SBI was designed to be a completely voluntaristic basic income alternative. It uses the Hive rewards pool, but only to the extent that Hive users have voluntarily funded it using HIVE that they could otherwise just power up on their own account. There are several features of Hive SBI that make it progressive. I would be happy to provide an interview, but my Portuguese is very rusty (I spent a gap year in Sao Paulo in 2004-2005).

Thank you for your comment. I would be very happy if we could actually do an interview, a conversation or even an AMA in the Brazilian community. I believe that there are many people with doubts and questions that they would like to ask about the project.

I believe that the conversation could yield good results and even function as a brainstorming session for future solutions, not only for HSBI, but also for the issue of basic income in HIVE (which, as you mentioned, is not the case for HSBI, and I ended up making a mess in the video).
