We Don't Say Goodbye
Hello on a Friday,
Hope your week treated you kindly! Mine was… let’s just say okay, with a few bumps along the way. Right now, I’m holding myself together with the combination of a warm cup of cocoa at my desk and a trusty ibuprofen tab—sanity somewhat restored.
Since I proudly shared my little garden project last week, I figured it’s only fair to give you a follow-up. Unfortunately, it comes with a bit of sad news: I may have lost my backup tomato seedlings. Over fifteen of them are either on their way out or already gone, and I can’t quite pin down the exact reason. Honestly, it feels like the result of a handful of small mistakes that piled up into one not-so-great outcome.
But here’s the thing—gardening will teach you life lessons in real time. Concepts that once felt abstract, like patience, timing, and consequence, suddenly become very practical when you’re staring at wilting seedlings. It’s humbling, frustrating....
- giving priority attention to those who have the best chance of survival but at the same time
- if there's a chance, a possibility to save more, take it.
- Except that some are too far gone that devoting time to save them is time better spent on others and therefore a waste of time.
- Better to lose 10 than all 15.
Yours truly can trust her imagination for the back view of a skull, but the side view? Not so much. So I’ll be hunting down a proper reference image with all the angles to practice from. Shouldn’t be too hard to find.
Next on my list is the September geometric design challenge from the Alien Art Hive community and NFT Showroom collaboration. I’m toying with the idea of a portrait with geometric pattern. We’ll see where it takes me.
This week has leaned more into play than productivity: lots of catching up on my watch list, stumbling across new shows, and (of course) sinking hours into the Warhammer mobile game. I had every intention of posting this piece on Wednesday, then on Thursday… but here we are today.
Maybe it worked out for the best, though. The timing lines up perfectly with how my morning went—trying (and failing) to rescue a few struggling seedlings. Art delays, garden setbacks… sometimes the rhythm just writes itself.
So before I get distracted and forget to hit publish, I’ll wrap this up here. Some weeks flow, others wobble, but they all find their way into the story crumble. One can add something about a cookie cutter here.
Alrightie folks, take care of yourself and your beloveds and stay safe out there folks
Ty for joining the geometry challenge, sorry to hear about your tomato seedlings 😢 I always start way more than I need for this exact reason
Thanks dear! I am a beginner in the plant nursery department so I'm learning as I go.
