Social Media Challenge - Weapons Training Rocks

Prelude
Good day to all, how are all of you doing? We've just come through a massive maintenance which is bringing big changes to the Splinterlands community. How are coping with the new changes to the playing in ranked battle? Did you continue your way in wild by getting a wild pass or just grind your way out in modern? I tried out modern and felt like hitting a rock because of the many maxed out players that I met during battle.

However, when fighting in such a crazy situation, the only way is to dig deep into your lineup to get the very best out of them to face your fully evolved opponents while you work on improving the level of your cards. So while it is painful to face these crazy levelled up lineup, it gives me the chance to think hard on how to overcome such tough opponents. I am still working towards minimally Level 3 rare capable lineups and while I do that, there is a new to overcome the overwhelming lineups. If you have any tips on how to grow collection faster, can share with me.

In today's post, I will be sharing on one of the craziest matchup I had while competing in modern and in terms of levelling, we are almost equivalent and that's why it is fun and we can truly see cards compete on almost event ground. And in today's sharing, I will also on how good Weapons Training is.

If you are unfamiliar, this is the definition of the ability of Weapons Training:

Adjacent monsters gain this Monster's attack if they have no attacks themselves

In simple terms, cards that do not have any form of attack can inherit up to 3 attack from the card that gives Weapons Training. So let's dive right into the battle where I use Weapons Training.

Ruleset: Blood and Sunder
Mana Limit: 43

Selection Analysis
43 mana match, relatively high mana and I was keen to try out some Weapons Training and use a magic lineup and won't be affected by the ruleset. Backbone of my selection will be Iziar and Spirit Hoarding. This two cards form a strong network of diverting damage and triage to heal the backline card giving a controlled direction of damage. Next comes the ever useful magic sniper Captain Katie that hits well and grows bigger and bigger with every successful kill. Remaining 3 cards will be how the weapons training work. The card that gives Weapons Training is Aves Sturgis and so 2 other cards that is adjacent to it will need to be "attack-less". This time round I selected Evelyn Auvera to serve as a front tank with the super thick armour and Scavo Hireling to repair any lost armour.

On my opponent end, the framework that he is doing is to use Katrelba to sneak out all my backline and grow it big to make it unstoppable. Thane Newsong inspires the whole lineup, giving melee attackers a big boost. Other melee cards in my opponent lineup include Coerul Lurker and also Pallus which both can hit real hard and Lurker being the damage soak due to it being a very refined card with taunt, dodge and phasse, to hit is will not be an easy task. Opponent also planned for a martyr hit and also a Queen Mycelia to give his lineup additional 2 armour.

Botho of us have our reasons for structuring our lineup in the manner we want, but what truly can help win the game? There is only 1 way to find out.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - A very friendly round but it can be seen how hard my opponent hit Evelyn while my cards channel their attack efforts towards Coerul Lurker.

Round 2 - The barrage was faster than me being able to get Evelyn's armour repaired and it fell to Pallus's strike. One my end, I didn't give my opponent a good time either by also clearing his Coerul Lurker by Spirit Hoarder. Now I am worried about my Iziar too whom took a lot of punishment. Hopefully I can have her sustained as long as I can.

Turn 3 - The barrage from both side continues with me taking out Pallus but Iziar is on the low end and unable to another double strike from Katrelba. Katrelba is already getting bigger, if it continues chewing my backline, I am bound to lose.

Turn 4 - I have successfully cleared of Thane Newsong and the martyr card. But one thing scary is that Ktrelba's attack is really huge now and potentially it can chew one card per turn.

Round 5 - This was what I forsee, Katrelba becoming really huge. This round is a double chew on my backline. I know Captain Katie can take one full double strike. Let's see how it further progress.

Round 6 and 7, in round 6, opponent struck and down goes Captain Katie after absorbing all the damage from Katrelba but fell to Queen Mycelia. Katrelba was easily diposed off in round 6 and subsequently in round 7, last card falls on my opponent side and I have secured the victory!

Battle Summary
This is one crazy match that go right down to the last card. However, I am really like how much value Weapons Training can bring to the match. From a card that just sit there and run its ability but not attacking to a card that joins in and do necessary damage to opponent, otherwise without Weapons Training, I am most destined to lose the match. Take for example Scavo Hireling if without training, is just sitting there with repair and nothing else, but now it comes with 2 magic attack, so much more value that how it was previously.

Wrap Up
There are many Weapons Training cards in the Soul Bound rewards card. I am so tempted to open more legendary chest to get them and boost my lineup. Currently I do not have all of those cards and hoping to have them in the near future to make up my collection stronger to face the fully levelled cards right now in modern.
