If thorchain fails to secure massive VC investment or restructuring to pay back debt, the protocol will cease to exist as we know it.
Protocol revenue is being rapidly starved off, eliminating the ability to gradually pay off debt. We are seeing another Luna right now.

I don't think people will save it. They shouldn't have ever gotten to that point in the first place. PLus there's a million other options out there now. If you F up you're going to be replaced these days. The days of thinking your blockchain is "special" are over.
