Listening Beyond Words : Understanding Emotions, Body Language and Expressions Patiently, While Listening.

Listening doesn't only involves verbal communication , it's not only about words of the speaker, but also listening to the speakers body languages , expressions, the speakers emotions and even eye contact could pass more detailed information.
The act of listening makes communication, expression and understanding better for both the speaker and listener, it requires logical observation, patience, silence and understanding.
The ability to listen shows how emotionally intelligent a person is, because the ability to listen and articulate will make one pay quality attention to the speakers emotions, and when you listen to a persons emotion and not just words, it makes you a good listener and makes conversation and understanding smooth and at ease.
Being a good listener is an act of wisdom, patience and self discipline.
I admire people who don't just hear but listen and articulate what a person is trying to communicate to them with patience.
Listening makes communication better and easier in many ways and makes resolution of conflict easy, promotes peace, makes understanding easy and peaceful .
The act of listening will never mislead you, it will only make you understand and learn.

Growing up I had issues with listening, and each time I had an issue with my younger siblings because of the actions i took, due to my inability to listen, I feel guilty and unintelligent.
At some point in my life, I decided to be a good listener, hold back my words until the speaker is done communicating, understand the message the speaker is trying pass , before speaking or judging.
Untill I understand the speakers emotion, I learnt not to get into quick conclusion, take drastic actions or give a quick response.
Also, being a good listener also helped me understood courses and subjects that I found difficult to understand in my educational journey, I learnt to not just hear my teachers but listen to my teachers with absolute concentration and observation.
So, learning to be a good listener improved my learning skill in school , business and other places of learning.

The ability to listen in any situation, even in severe conflict is a great skill and if everyone on earth can possess this ability and calmness to listen appropriately the world would really be a better place, because understanding and wisdom will be the order of the day , it will promote peaceful dialogue.
Apart from being emotionally intelligent, being a good listener builds self discipline, just imagine a case scenario where listening saves you from beating or harming an innocent person, it stops you from unleashing your anger negatively.

I have people who listen to me, and one of them is my dad, he listens to my opinion, and each time there's a conflict between I and any of my siblings or people around us , he listens to both parties, gives enough time to get an explanation from both parties Instead of judging of picking a side and that have really helped in conflict resolution, promote peace and love between us too.
He listens to what I say , even when it doesn't make sense and I appreciate his listening ability, it makes me more comfortable to communicate to him.
He doesn't just hear, but listens to me, and that's have made communication with him really amazing.

In conclusion, Being a listener, paying good attention to what others are saying, understanding their feelings and body languages makes one a wise and disciplined person.
Being a good listener holds great values .

There are people who find it difficult to explain themselves through words, they tend to use non verbal communication like gestures or attitude. Like you said, being a good listener is never about paying attention to spoken words.
