History, A Narrative Of Those Who Conquered .

History mirrors the past to us, it tells us stories that we weren't privileged to witness and it triggers a lot of emotions too, both good and bad emotions.
History is being narrated by the victors , that makes history questionable to the younger generations, creates bias and doubts to so many of us.

History is being told by those who conquered, it the narrative of the victorious side that is being passed on as history, going back to the olden days when nations conquer other nations, they kill as many as they could kill, save some for slavery, the narrative that would be shared from generation is usually the narrative of the ones that conquered due to the power they possess and in most cases the losers die with their side of the story, they aren't given enough audience even when the little survivors try to share.
The victorious side document their narrative and that's why it's being shared from generation to generations, forgeting the fact that it might not be sincerity or accurate.

Here in Nigeria, we all know the story of Biafra, apart from oral narrative, I first read about Biafra history in a book ; Half Of A Yellow Sun by Ngozi Chimamanda , it triggered alot of emotions that I had to control, if most men that witnessed this war, didn't survive , I believe we would have been told a different story, and that's because the Nigerian Government placed a restriction to the selling of the historical books and also restricted the movie from being watched, most persons said it was banned too.
We all have the right to know our history, but we are being restricted.
This is because of Victory, the victory they had back then is the reason they control the narrative till date, they imprison men who want to continue the fight and even control the media by tagging them as terrorist group, if there were no survivors, we would be left to believe they are terrorists too, which is untrue.

To my best knowledge, I'm convinced this history is being untold to avoid division and promote unity among us , because a constant reminder is more like reopening an open wound or scar and yes history is always written in favor of the victorious and those who were conquered will be render voiceless, because they lost and also control the right narrative from spreading to the younger generation.

The piece of history that I believe is totally wrong but everyone just thinks it's true, is what we were taught in government that the earlier nationalist in Nigeria, men like Nnamdi Azikwe, Obafemi Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello, where United, back in government we were taught about their patriotism, love regardless of tribes and understanding within themselves , but I feel they are the ones who gave room to division, and tribalism in Nigeria.
They played a great role is causing division and the other leaders followed their path , but we are meant to believe they are nationalist and the best leaders in the history of Nigeria, meanwhile they started the poor system and division in the country.
Lastly, I don't think there would be a way to correct this perception, because the those who are meant to correct it, no longer exist.

Pictures are mine.

Thanks for reading ♥️

The whole history is usually a brushed story to suit those it is meant to suit. Keeping others believing without doubt that every word is true

Well said. They paint whatever they want us to believe. And that’s what we see as the true picture. It there are times when doubt come to place.
