GENDER EQUALITY/ EQUITY; A PROMOTION TO TEAM WORK AND MUTUAL RESPECT IN FAMILIES.
Over the years the issue of gender equity have raised a lot of concerns to different scholars and the society, it has really been a controversial topic with so many opinions and believes, it has given birth to words like feminism and patriarchy.
In the literary world we have a lot of books, novels and dramas addressing gender equality and inequality in the family, society and even churches.
It's a controversial and interesting topic.
In our society today, every one is fighting and striving for equality, especially the female who feels the world is male dominated .
To an average man/woman, gender equality is a fair treatment between both genders, in the family, society, work place, politics and many other sectors of the world.
A world or society where there would be no restrictions created for any gender, equal right to education, all careers, political power, government and many more.
Not just equal right, but also equal respect and mutual respect in the society and work place.
A world where the decisions from both genders will recognized and given equal treatment.
Also fairness and equality in offices, there's a stereotype of woman being the soft gender and men being the stronger gender and this is the major challenges we see in our work places, thereby making the female gender feel restricted and held back when it comes to taking certain positions and job in the society.
For example, in the engineering world, it's believed women aren't fit for jobs in those sectors even when they are capable of working.
In this prompt, we are at the family level of gender equality, and these are my opinions.
Building a family is all about teamwork
I believe in shared responsibility between both genders.
A lecturer back in my university days, said, the man is the head of the family and the woman is the neck and they both need each other, they need to share responsibilities and not give certain responsibilities to a particular gender.
Gender equality in families encourages team work and less stress for both genders.
Gender equality affect financial responsibilities in families in a positive ways , it creates a balance, and also a sense of value to both genders, especially the woman, it makes her feel more valued in the family .
It reduces the burden/ responsibility on the man.
Gender equality, will not restrict home chores or responsibilities to only females but also gives them a chance to earn and stay independent.
It creates a balance, the male gender can also attend or assist in house chores, cleaning and washing and not just restrict it to only the female gender.
There's an equal share of everything, thereby making everyone an active participant, financially, and other wise.
Having equal financial responsibilities will also enhance growth, promote joint investment and savings business growth, and aso equal financial decisions between both genders.
When the income flow comes from both the wife and husband it fosters growth in so many ways.
Gender equality in a family is necessary, because it promotes mutual respect among partners and also makes marriage peaceful , it creates a balance, by reducing the burden on one gender .
It fosters financially growth and financial freedom.
There's a gender stereotype in our society, that the male genders are carrier of responsibilities and burdens in a family, but shared responsibility between couples will make the society respect the woman, not just for being a mother but also an assistant or teammate to her husband.Relieving him of certain burdens.
Gender equality creates a fair world for both genders and also makes the world favourable and easy for both genders.
Gender equality benefits the family in financially, and in many other ways.
It creates an independent mindset for both genders, thereby eradicating financial burdens or lack of finance in a family .
It also promotes the society economy and creates a value for younger generations to emulate.

When it comes to jobs, it is not just women, it goes both ways. If you should go to the advertising and broadcasting sector, you would find more women than men because it is a kind of job that demands female natural qualities e.g intonation, sex appeal e.t.c you can't really see men complaining about this.
In the engineering sector, it is more labour oriented which is not suitable for most women tender nature. There are women who can handle it but not all. Gender equity is different from gender equality, gender equity is all about fair treatment and providing opportunities for both gender considering individual strength and weaknesses.
