Most people are unaware that deer eat seaweed, and forage on beaches. Deer are also powerful swimmers, and I have seen deer swimming in the ocean to travel from island to island, where islands can be less than an acre and incapable of permanent residency by deer.

Elk are ~5x the size of deer. The spike bulls in the herd I chased around yesterday were easily >5x the size of that spike buck.
