Ecowarrior Kieran Kelly on Sarah Westall Discusses the Collapse of Plankton from Microplastics
I recently began following Sarah on Odysee, and was provided this report. Kelly is the CEO of the leading enterprise removing plastic pollution from the ocean, the Ocean Integrity Group, and he has great insight into the problems that plastics, and micro- and nano- plastics cause.
"CEO of Ocean Integrity Group, Kieran Kelly, joins me to discuss the crisis unfolding in our oceans. Plankton—responsible for roughly 70% of the planet’s oxygen—are dying under the weight of microplastics flooding the seas. Those same particles are in our air, soil and food, driving damaging health issues we can’t ignore.
We also discuss a personal story he had encountering USAID and their corrupt practices. You can follow Kelly on LinkedIn @ Kieran Kelly"
He reveals that tiny scraps of plastic attract pollutants, like heavy metals, and are consumed by plankton and plankton feeders, which poisons them with attendant harmful effects. He points out that the use of plastic beverage containers and water bottles contributes greatly to the problem, and discusses the use of glass, which is not harmful to the ocean.
He points out the hijacking of environmental issues by corporations seeking profits, and that conceal the true environmental harms to promote those narratives they can profit from. Corruption is endemic to institutions, and the longer institutions exist the more corrupt they become as criminals infiltrate them through bribery, blackmail, and other BS that enables criminals to profit. Since the environmental movement was hijacked back in the 1970s by Big Oil, the problem of corruption and diversion from real environmental dangers to the AGW CO2 narrative that is imposing a global totalitarian technocratic tyranny that will not only not do any good for the ecosystems of the world, but will continue to degrade them because that is profitable for criminals.
Have a listen, because he is very well informed regarding microplastics and the many vectors of harm they cause, including endocrine disruption that is contributing to the collapse of reproductive fertility and plunging civil society into population collapse.
Dear @valued-customer !
I believe plastic causes serious harm to humans and the natural environment. Glass, on the other hand, is more expensive and heavier!
It is heavier, and it is also brittle, and can break creating hazardous pieces. However, it is almost utterly inert to chemicals, including most strong acids, and can be reused indefinitely, meaning that it's initial greater cost to manufacture can result in vastly lower cost of re-use over time. Because it is chemically inert it causes none of the harms plastic does. Your testicles and brain are ~.05% plastic today. Glass does not break down into endocrine disrupting and toxin adsorbing particles, but into sand, eventually. Add to the expense of manufacturing plastic the costs of the environmental, ecological, and health harms it provably causes, and glass becomes vastly less expensive in use.
Thanks!
Do you happen to know the name of an old documentary about the creation of plastic?
Can't seem to recall the name.
I do not, sorry.
