Recommendation The Pitt: the reality of an emergency room đźš‘ [Eng/Esp]
Hello, television series fans!
I hope you are all well. For my part, I have to tell you about a series I am watching and loving. I had seen that this series was winning lots of awards after just one season and kept popping up on TikTok, but it was a particular edit that made me rush to turn on the television and watch it. This series is called The Pitt.

The Pitt is a medical drama series that aims to show medical realism and the true harshness of hospital emergency rooms. The story is set in the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Centre, where we focus on a medical team of doctors, nurses and students on a 15-hour shift working in the emergency room, where anything can happen in a single hour.
Something I love is that each episode is one hour of a 15-hour shift, with no sudden time jumps or those super-dramatic love subplots that last forever. The series tries to immerse the viewer in a 'day in the ER' or 'an hour in the ER' as an intense immersive experience.

It explores teamwork, pressure, and mental and emotional exhaustion for medical staff, especially on a hard day at work. Juggling time, many patients, few stretchers, few staff, and a system based on increasing "customer satisfaction," but making patients wait 10 hours to be seen just because hospital administrators don't want to hire more staff.
So our protagonist, Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, a veteran doctor, tries to guide residents and students through controlled chaos, while dealing with threats to close his emergency room and turn the hospital into a private outpatient surgery centre, and his trauma after failing to save his mentor's life following the COVID-19 pandemic.

I loved this series from the moment I saw the first episode; the story, the plot and the characters are very good, plus Dr. Robby is played by Noah Wyle, who also starred in my other favourite medical series, E.R. For those who haven't seen it, it's very good; literally, E.R. is a pioneer in medical drama and paved the way for Grey's Anatomy. It uses precise medical language and is faithful to the hospital environment.

And although, as I said, the series focuses more on medical realism, over the course of the episodes you get to know more about the characters' personal histories and their relationships with each other. Due to its success, the series was renewed for a second and third season; the second season has already premiered with one episode per week, which I am currently watching.
