The manhwa is called The Indomitable Martial King, whose story takes place in a medieval-style magical world, where people have magical powers, divine power and even practice martial arts. But despite being relatively peaceful, intelligent and civilized creatures that coexist with nature, they are considered by humans as inferior and undeveloped beings, so humans enslave them or use them as experiments. They are considered beings without ego and will, this taught by a supremacist ideology and a hidden and distorted history thousands of years ago.

The protagonist of the story is Rifenhardt, the most powerful wizard in history, who is opposed to slavery and decides to rebel against humans and create an empire where all these creatures can live in freedom, but prohibiting the entry of humans despite the fact that he is also a human. This is how he creates the Antares Empire, an empire composed of hundreds of dwarves, elves, trolls and orcs, but ruled by a human king, Rifenhardt, nicknamed by the rest of the world as the demon king.

Living with these species, Rifenhardt becomes increasingly aware of the shortcomings of humans and begins to loathe their status as one, so his hatred for humanity increases. Rifenhardt soon begins to create a powerful and unprecedented empire, with a vast territory and a military might composed of the strongest and most powerful elves, dwarves, trolls and orcs in his empire, who only used their power to rescue their enslaved brethren and did not retaliate against humans.

Finally, humanity decides to send a group of heroes with an army behind them, determined to invade the Antares empire and assassinate Rifenhardt and his four celestial kings, his elite force and where the Elf that Rifenhardt loved was located.

The war ends with the death of the human army, but with the death of Rifenhardt's four celestial kings, so Rifenhardt faces the heroes of humanity alone. And although he defeats them, he could not defeat the Martial King Tesslon, because Rifenhardt had a very weak constitution and despite being the so-called Demon King, he was often ill. So, as a last measure, he decides to perform a time regression spell, not imagining that he would return in the body of a young Tesslon and Tesslon in the body of a young Rifenhardt.

With a new body and a new history, Rifenhardt embarks on repeating his struggle to free all non-human creatures from oppression and slavery, but also to understand where he and his empire failed in his old life. As he does so, he will understand the truth of the world in which he lives and unravel a centuries-old conspiracy, where any hint of doubt or questioning of the prevailing ideas of that world has been silenced.

Regression as reincarnation in manhwa is considered a genre, as it is a literary resource (I say literary because many manhwas are based on novels) quite common, where the protagonist fails in his first life to achieve his goal, so he, an entity, god or any other person grants him a second chance to amend where he failed and fulfill his goal. Although regression is a widely used device in many manhwas, people don't seem to get tired of it, still, not just any regression manhwa works. Although it is not a perfect manhwa there are three reasons why I think the story works:

1. Story: the story, despite following the same formula as hundreds of other manhwas, differs in the fact that here every non-human creature is not “evil”, as it is quite common in other manhwa for trolls and orcs to be non-thinking creatures, guided only by instincts. Besides Rifenhardt not only fights against a system, but against ignorance and hatred.

2. Drawing: It's not perfect, but it's good enough. Many manhwas of this type when they start have an ugly drawing style that improves as the chapters go on. This one from the beginning is very good and improves, I think it keeps the quality enough.

3. The main character: Rifenhardt, as the story progresses, understands where he went wrong and where he has to change, he leaves aside his hatred for humanity and understands that he has to guide it and teach it another way of living and seeing the world. He evolves and learns, much by the hand of those he once hated, his ideology begins to resonate and those who were once his former rivals begin to see the world as he sees it.

El manhwa se llama El Indomable Rey Marcial, cuya historia trascurre en un mundo mágico estilo medievo, donde las personas tienen poderes mágicos, poder divino e incluso practican artes marciales. En este mundo también existen otras especies como enanos, elfos, trolls y orcos. Criaturas inteligentes y civilizadas que viven en comunidades, con idiomas, culturas y tradiciones propias. Pero a pesar de ser criaturas relativamente pacíficas, inteligentes y civilizadas que conviven con la naturaleza, son consideradas por los humanos como seres inferiores y pocos desarrollados, por lo que los humanos los esclavizan o usan como experimentos. Se les considera seres sin ego y voluntad, esto enseñado por una ideología supremacista y una historia oculta y tergiversada hace miles de años.

La historia tiene como protagonista a Rifenhardt, el mago más poderoso de la historia, quien se opone a la esclavitud y decide rebelarse contra los humanos y crear un imperio donde todas estas criaturas puedan vivir en libertad, pero prohibiendo la entrada a los humanos a pesar de él también serlo. Es así como crea el imperio Antares un imperio compuesto por cientos de enanos, elfos, trolls y orcos, pero reinado por un rey humano, Rifenhardt apodado por el resto del mundo como el rey demonio.

Al convivir con estas especies, Rifenhardt cada vez se da más cuenta de las deficiencias de los seres humanos y empieza a aborrecer su condición como uno, por lo que su odio por la humanidad aumenta. Rifenhardt pronto empieza a crear un imperio poderoso y sin precedentes, con un vasto territorio y un poderío militar compuesto por los elfos, enanos, trolls y orcos más fuertes y poderosos de su imperio, quienes solo usaban su poder para rescatar a sus hermanos esclavizados y no tomaban represalia alguna contra los humanos.

Finalmente, la humanidad decide enviar a un grupo de héroes con un ejército a sus espaldas, decididos a invadir el imperio Antares y asesinar a Rifenhardt y a sus cuatro reyes celestiales, su fuerza de elite y en donde se encontraba la Elfa que Rifenhardt amaba.

La guerra concluye con la muerte del ejército humano, pero con la muerte de los cuatro reyes celestiales de Rifenhardt, por lo que este se enfrenta solo a los héroes de la humanidad. Y aunque los vence, no pudo contra el Rey Marcial Tesslon, pues Rifenhardt poseía una constitución muy débil y a pesar de ser el denominado Rey Demonio, enfermaba con frecuencia. Por lo que, como última medida, decide llevar a cabo un hechizo de regresión en el tiempo, sin imaginar que volvería en el cuerpo de un joven Tesslon y Tesslon en el cuerpo de un joven Rifenhardt.

Con un nuevo cuerpo y una nueva historia, Rifenhardt se embarca en repetir su lucha de liberar de la opresión y la esclavitud a todas las criaturas no humanas, pero también a entender en dónde falló él y su imperio en su antigua vida. A medida que lo haga, comprenderá la verdad del mundo en el que vive y desentrañará una conspiración de siglos, donde cualquier indicio de duda o cuestionamiento a las ideas predominantes en ese mundo, ha sido silenciadas.

La regresión como la reencarnación en el manhwa es considerada un género, pues es un recurso literario (digo literario porque muchos manhwas están basados en novelas) bastante común, donde el protagonista falla en su primera vida en lograr su objetivo, por lo que él, un ente, dios o cualquier otra persona le concede una segunda oportunidad para enmendar donde fallo y cumplir su objetivo. A pesar de que la regresión es un recurso muy utilizado en muchos manhwas, no parece que la gente se canse de esto, aun así, no cualquier manhwa de regresión funciona. Aunque no es un manhwa perfecto hay tres razones por las que creo que la historia funciona:

1. Historia: la historia, a pesar de seguir la misma fórmula que otros cientos de manhwas, se diferencia en el hecho de que aquí toda criatura no humana no es “mala”, pues es bastante común en otros manhwa los trolls y orcos sean criaturas no pensantes, guiadas solo por instintos. Además de que Rifenhardt no solo lucha contra un sistema, sino contra la ignorancia y el odio.

2. Dibujo: No es perfecto, pero es lo suficientemente bueno. Muchos manhwas de este tipo cuando inician tienen un feo estilo de dibujo que mejora a medida que avanzan los capítulos. Este desde el inicio es muy bueno y mejora, creo que mantiene la calidad lo suficiente.

3. El protagonista: Rifenhardt a medida que avanza la historia, comprende dónde se equivocó y donde tiene que cambiar, deja de lado su odio a la humanidad y entiende que tiene que guiarla y enseñarle otra forma de vivir y ver el mundo. Evoluciona y aprende, mucho de la mano de a quienes una vez odio, su ideología empieza a resonar y quienes alguna vez fueron sus antiguos rivales empiezan a ver el mundo tal como él lo ve.
