Recommendation Devil May Cry [Eng/Esp]

Hello, anime lovers!

I hope everyone is doing well. Today I bring you a recommendation and review of an anime I watched about 3 months ago and introspectively liked quite a bit. It's pretty short with only 8 episodes, but it's set to have multiple seasons.

This anime is called Devil May Cry and is based on an anime game series of the same name. While it certainly doesn't faithfully follow the Lore of the game, it can be somewhat understood as a reinterpretation of Dante's story.

This series follows the story of Dante, a young, handsome, eccentric and rather crazy demon hunter. Free-spirited, but prone to boredom, Dante enjoys fighting and hunting demons, but despite his carefree attitude, Dante hides a traumatic past marked by loss of mother and twin brotherand denial of his true self. The reality is that Dante was born from the union of a woman named Eva and the great demon knight Sparda, this demonic heritage is what allows Dante to face demons without fear, with two guns in each hand and extraordinary physical abilities Dante kills demons left and right, to whom he has a deep hatred.

Dante lived his life as a mercenary and demon hunter, having no idea that soon his whole world and everything he believed in would change, after being drawn into a global conspiracy when a robbery in the Vatican threatens to unleash the apocalypse.Without knowing it, very powerful demons, whose power made it very difficult for them to cross the barrier that divided earth and hell, learned to transport their consciousness to the human world, in the hope of escaping the hell where they were imprisoned. Hand in hand with a White Rabbit the size of a human and with a macabre appearance that unleashes massacres in search of Dante and the amulet that hangs around his neck.

Dante not only has to deal with the White Rabbit and his band of demons but also with the government who apparently knows of the existence of the demons (existence hidden from the public) who has a group of demon hunters led by the cruel, manipulative and cunning Vice President of the U.S. who runs the government from the shadows and through the President of the United States who serves more in my opinion as the “nice” face in command.

It all comes down to hunting and being hunted, while sooner rather than later the gates of hell are opening wider and wider and the most powerful demons are ready to make their appearance. Meanwhile, of course, the government makes its own plans, revealing that sometimes humans are worse than demons. Dante must learn to accept his heritage if he is to fight his enemies and save what little he has left in the world, face uncomfortable truths and fight even those he loves.

The demons came to earth and want to stay because their home is a real hell from which everyone wants to escape.

Dante is a quintessential anti-hero who just wants to leave the past behind, and the White Rabbit is a crazed and enigmatic terrorist who seeks to unite the human world with the demonic one, will they both achieve what they set out to do?

I really liked the character of the White Rabbit as the representation of chaos and the breakdown of “order”, his madness and motivations are more of a critique than an insane desire for domination and his name to my mind is the abandonment of all logic as well as the descent into an unknown world, like the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. The series also touches on issues such as immigration and other social problems in the form of a demonic invasion.

Now, although the series takes elements from the manga and the games, as I said in the beginning, it deviates from the canon to tell a story of its own. For those who haven't played the game or read the manga I don't think it's a problem. The animation is very good and the battles are visually amazing. It should be added that for some the series may be a bit grotesque because it has sequences with a lot of blood, but I think they add an excellent touch to the story.

Espero que todos estén bien. Hoy les traigo una recomendación y reseña de un anime que vi hace como unos 3 meses y que en introspectiva me gustó bastante. Es bastante corta con tan solo 8 capítulos, pero está programada para que tenga múltiples temporadas.

Este anime se llama Devil May Cry y está basado en una serie de juegos animados del mismo nombre. Aunque ciertamente no sigue fielmente el Lore del juego, se puede entender un poco como una reinterpretación de la historia de Dante.

Esta serie sigue la historia de Dante, un joven, guapo, excéntrico y bastante alocado cazador de demonios. De espíritu libre, pero con tendencia al aburrimiento, Dante disfruta de las peleas y cazar demonios, pero a pesar de su despreocupada actitud, Dante esconde un pasado traumático marcado por la pérdida de su madre y hermano gemelo y la negación de su verdadero ser. La realidad es que Dante nació de la unión de una mujer de nombre Eva y el gran caballero demonio Sparda, dicha herencia demoniaca es lo que le permite a Dante hacerle frente sin temor a los demonios, con dos pistolas en cada mano y extraordinarias habilidades físicas Dante asesina demonios a diestra y siniestra, a quienes les tiene un profundo odio.

Dante vivía su vida como mercenario y cazador de demonios, sin tener idea de que pronto su mundo entero y todo lo que él creía cambiaría, tras verse arrastrado a una conspiración global cuando un robo en el vaticano amenaza con desatar el apocalipsis. Sin saberlo, demonios muy poderosos que por su poder les era muy difícil atravesar la barrera que dividía la tierra y el infierno, aprendieron a transportar sus conciencias al mundo humano, con la esperanza de escapar del infierno donde estaban encerrados. De la mano de un Conejo Blanco del tamaño de un humano y con apariencia macabra que desata masacres en búsqueda de Dante y el amuleto que cuelga en su cuello.

Dante no solo tiene que lidiar con el Conejo Blanco y su banda de demonios sino también con el gobierno que aparentemente sabe de la existencia de los demonios (existencias ocultas al público) quienes cuenta con un grupo de cazadores de demonios dirigidos por el cruel, manipulador y astuto vicepresidente de EE. UU, quien maneja el gobierno desde las sombras y a través del presidente de los Estados Unidos quien funge más desde mi opinión como la cara “agradable” en el mando.

Todo se reduce a cazar y a ser cazado, mientras más pronto que tarde las puertas del infierno se abren cada vez más y los demonios más poderosos están listos para hacer su aparición. Mientras, por supuesto, el gobierno hace sus propios planes, revelando que a veces los humanos son peores que los demonios. Dante deberá a aprender a aceptar su herencia si quiere luchar contra sus enemigos y salvar lo poco que le queda en el mundo, enfrentar verdades incómodas y luchar incluso contra quienes ama.

Los demonios llegaron a la tierra y quieren quedarse porque su hogar es un verdadero infierno del que todos quieren escapar.

Dante es un antihéroe por excelencia que solo quiere dejar atrás el pasado, y el Conejo Blanco es un terrorista enloquecido y enigmático que busca unir el mundo humano con el demoniaco, ¿ambos lograrán lo que se proponen?

Me gustó mucho el personaje del Conejo Blanco como la representación del caos y la ruptura del “orden”, su locura y motivaciones son más una crítica que un deseo insano de dominación y su nombre a mi parecer es el abandono de toda lógica así como el descenso a un mundo desconocido, como el conejo blanco de Alicia en el país de las maravillas. La serie también toca temas como la inmigración y otros problemas sociales desde la forma de una invasión demoniaca.

Ahora bien, aunque la serie toma elementos del manga y los juegos, como dije en un inicio, se desvía del canon para contar una historia propia. Para quienes no han jugado el juego o leído el manga no creo que sea un problema. La animación es muy buena y las batallas son visualmente increíbles. Cabe agregar que para algunos la serie puede ser algo grotesca porque tiene secuencias con mucha sangre, pero creo que le dan un toque excelente a la historia.
