🤡Recommendation Clown in a Cornfield: Teenagers hunted by a clown from a corn tin. [Eng/Esp]
Hello, slasher horror film fans!
I hope you are all well. As for me, I started classes this week at university and had an exam right away, so I haven't been able to be as active. Luckily, there were no classes this Wednesday due to the university's anniversary, so I was able to stay at home, sleep in and watch television.
I felt like watching a film, so I put on one that had come up on TikTok to see what it was like. The film is called Clown in a Cornfield.

As you may have read, this is a slasher horror film based on a novel of the same name (there are three books). This film follows Quinn Maybrook, a young teenager who moves with her father, Dr. Glenn Maybrook, to the rural town of Kettle Springs to rebuild their lives after a tragic event. But as the saying goes, "small town, big hell," so Quinn quickly notices that there is something strange about this town, especially in the behaviour of the adults and young people, noticing a strange and deep generation gap between the adults (who are rooted in old customs) and the young people (who want freedom), as the environment feels somewhat oppressive, in addition to a strange cult surrounding the image of a clown on a can of corn syrup.

It turns out that the pride of the town was the Baypen company and its most famous product: a can of corn syrup with the image of a clown named Frendo, a company founded years ago that created the town's economic boom. There, Quinn meets Cole Hill (whose family founded the Baypen company), Rust (a strange and marginalised boy), Janett, Ronnie, Tucker and Matt, who have created a whole story about the clown Frendon being a murderer.

And although everything seems to be going well at first with Quinn and his new friends, all hell breaks loose when the Frendos emerge from the cornfields and begin killing the town's young people in a kind of purge or hunt for teenagers, which in the Frendos' minds was "killing in times of crisis".
I must say that it is more of a dark comedy than a pure horror film, so it is not scary. There were several scenes that made me laugh and others with quite graphic violence, but without exaggeration or being particularly bloody.

The film mixes slasher gore with social criticism, criticising puritanism and conservatism. Although these ideas are more evident at the end, specifically in certain dialogues or speeches while Frendo was trying to kill teenagers, it was a bit anticlimactic, although it made some sense. So, apart from killer clowns named Frendo, there is a critique of adults who cling to old customs and young people who have a different view of the world, because time passes and everything changes.

The film has clichés such as the blonde, the jock and the funny guy (although he is funny) and it has a slow start. But it still has its funny moments, absurd moments, and some slasher classics, especially with the "final girl". And while it's not a revolutionary film, it does have a certain personality, which made it entertaining to watch, even though I could already guess how it would end.

I don't watch this genre much hehe but your review is very good
Hey, I had no idea this movie existed (or that it came from books), but the premise sounds crazy. That "villain" being the mascot of a can of corn syrup sounds somewhere between ridiculous and cool to me, haha. What catches my attention is what you say about the generation gap and social criticism; I didn't expect it from a movie that, at first glance, seems pure relaxation. I'm writing it down for one of those days when I just want to watch something entertaining and disconnect my brain for a while. Thanks for the recommendation!
With a title that gets straight to the point I knew right away that I had to see this. I expected to switch it off halfway or before that because it just looked like your typical cheesy slasher film but honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. The story is completely absurd of course, but it actually just kind of worked. I enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I was going to.
