How I Crochet a Laptop Cover Using Two Patterns
Crocheting anytime I'm less busy now gave me some kind of joy I can't even explain and it still keep me occupied whenever I do feel this kind of loneliness. The past weeks was a busy one but I'm glad I still advance to start the half double crochet pattern which was way easier than I expect but he different is we have to yarn over first before putting the hook into any stitch then yarn over again and pull through which is different from single crochet. So I decided to make something for myself, a laptop cover which is really helpful in keeping my laptop safe anytime I'm done using it or when I want to place it somewhere.
The materials I used:
- 1 and half ball of yarn
- 3.0 mm hook
- a pair of scissors
- stitch marker
- yarn needle
First of all, I made my slip knot then did 60 chains which is the width of my mac, then I start with single crochet for the foundation part, I made one single crochet into each chains and made 3sc into the last chain then continue the single crochet (sc) into each chain on the other side also till I reach the first chain i start from which I did 1sc then slip stitch. Making the second row, I chain 1 then insert the hook into the back loop to continue the single crochet patterns for that row all round back to my starting point which I slip stitch then continue the single crochet pattern in the next row (row 3) till the row of your choice, I made it 3-4 rows for the foundation part which took the single crochet pattern.
On row 5 after making my last slip stitch, I change the whole pattern to half double crochet, by skipping one stitch then making 2hdc into each stitch that follow the one I skipped and this time around, I didn't slip stitch at the end but continue the 2hdc pattern till It reach the heigh I want for my pc (The top layer). As usual, it wont give you the required form at the beginning, it was even looking like a sagging bowl to me also then when I continue it started giving the bag shape. At the end of the last row, I switch back to single crochet by inserting the hook into each stitch with 1sc each for the next 4 rows then at the middle I made the handle with 18 chains at first while I did the single crochet all round then came back with 1hdc to complete the handle pattern. then slip stitch all the last row to make the top layer strong and thick.
This is my first time making two patterns and even using both sc and hdc together, and it look really nice, even my friend already ask for it, giving me option to either do another one for him or he will just take this one. I might modify the handle part by giving it one bigger handle so it can be like a handbag also. I really love the final product, it is giving
I went yarn shopping half way also because I use the first one, the first time I try location the seller shop using goggle map, it was one hectic journey because I had to trek under the hot sun all because I couldn't get yarn in my area, the one I saw were black and dark brown color which look off to me. When I finally reach the lady shop to get the yarn, I think she was surprised seeing a guy because it was written all over her, I went back there again and she had to pop up the question, if I want to get it for someone and I just told her I'm learning how to crochet
Weird answer from the look but I just smile, it is not something that is common but I got this first balls and might still visiting the store to get more for the next stuff I want to crochet.
