Visiting Vale Nevado out of season - Chile
After the break on the way to hike the Mirador 3 Valles, we climb a little more and, suddenly, we are surrounded by more luxury hotels 3,000m above sea level.
The look is surreal and very different from what we are used to seeing in winter photos.
The vegetation mixes with a little snow and yes! There was snow. Well, I don't know if we can get there with snow, but there was ice.
These places are crowded in high season, but this time, they were almost deserted, which made it very interesting.
I like to walk in places without a lot of people, it seems like a peaceful vibe reigns there. You can enjoy the silence without worrying too much about your surroundings.
After walking around the hotels, taking lots of photos and admiring the mountains, we took a break, because our thirst was strong, and there was nothing better than a drink at the bar with this surreal landscape in the background.
There among these luxury hotels sitting at the bar admiring this landscape, a great moment to be grateful for this opportunity.
It gave a feeling of exclusivity and that we had the mountains to ourselves.
After hydrating and relaxing a bit, we went to explore the surroundings a little more.
I remember taking a breather a few times feeling like I was tired, then I remembered the height and the thin air.
Then we took the car to walk around the village, and look... what a place! Beautiful houses, scattered around, with views from another world.
You can imagine waking up there and, in the window, all you can see are mountains covered in snow, I just won't like the cold much, but the view. I'm sure it will be even more beautiful
The contrast of some places being white with snow and others with desert land and vegetation created a very different scene. I kept noticing and imagining that the trees would soon be buried in snow.
As the sun set, the cold increased. And of course, I was complaining about the cold! Haha 🥶
Before returning, we found a river that ran next to the road and we decided to go and check it out, it was frozen, other than the surface. I could see some water running under the ice.
It was my first time seeing a frozen river!
Time to go back... or not?
After this adventure climbing through the mountains, it was time to go back.
The flight to São Paulo was scheduled for the next day, but... is it worth missing the flight and staying a little longer in Chile? Temptation!
But we will find out in the next post. So see you then!
E claro, eu reclamando do frio! Haha 🥶
