I had never eaten boiled peanuts until Mr. João, after giving me a portion he had made for the São João festival, revealed to me the secret to preparing them.

According to him, the trick is to use freshly picked peanuts, as dried ones don't turn out as well.

He explained that the process is simple: put the fresh peanuts in the pressure cooker, add water and salt to taste, and let it cook until the pan starts to whistle.

At this point you can turn off the heat.

When I tried it, I was surprised by a delicacy that reminded me a lot of the taste of pine nuts.

The soft texture and salty flavor of the boiled peanuts was a delicious new experience.

Nunca tinha comido amendoins cozidos até que o senhor João, depois de me presentear com uma porção que ele fez para a festa de São João, me revelou o segredo para preparar.

Segundo ele, o truque é usar amendoins recém-colhidos, pois os secos não ficam tão bons.

Ele explicou que o processo é simples: colocar os amendoins frescos na panela de pressão, adicionar água e sal a gosto, e deixar cozinhar até a panela começar a apitar.

Nesse momento já pode desligar o fogo.

Quando experimentei fui surpreendido por uma iguaria que me lembrou muito o gosto do pinhão.

A textura macia e o sabor salgado dos amendoins cozidos foi uma nova experiencia deliciosa.
