Meta copiously create THREADS to kill Twitter

The New York Times report has revealed Meta’s plans to create a ‘Twitter Killer’ app to be called "Threads". This is coming after Hive's LeoFinance has been working over the past two years to recreate a web3 version of Twitter known as "Threads" which was formerly conceptualized as Project Blank.

Meta's plans to outwit Twitter started since last year in a bid to capitalize on the chaos at Twitter by building a rival service, with a statement that Mark Zuckerberg has long wanted to dislodge Twitter and provide the central place for public conversation online. Meta, which owns Facebook " Instagram, teased that the new app will take on Twitter for real-time digital conversations.

The supposed Threads is connected to Instagram, and was reported to have appeared in Apple’s App Store for users to sign up to download on Thursday, when it will be released. Users will be able to log into Threads using their Instagram account, according to photo previews of the app displayed in Apple’s App Store. Moreover, users will be able to follow people they already do on Instagram, and some techies are referring to the app as a “Twitter killer.”

The latest turbulence at Twitter appears to have given Mr. Zuckerberg a clear opening for Threads and Meta’s executives have discussed how to capitalize on the chaos at Twitter.

“Twitter is in crisis and Meta needs its mojo back,” one Meta employee wrote in an internal post last year, according to a report in December by The New York Times. “LET’S GO FOR THEIR BREAD AND BUTTER.”

While many think that Twitter has remained stubbornly irreplaceable, other platforms have tried to capitalize on Twitter’s weakness, before Meta's attempt. These are Bluesky, Nostr, Tumblr, Mastodon, Spill and LeoFinance but it seems that LeoFinance is ahead of all, providing more possibilities in recreating twitter on a web3 environment - Hive blockchain.

Will Meta win this fight? Arguably, Meta remains the most credible competitor to Twitter, with deep pockets and an audience of more than three billion users of either Facebook, Instagram or its other apps.

Is Meta dubbing LeoFinance?

A cursory look at the evolution of Threads on Meta has shown a clear mimicking of LeoFinance which has been oncourse to replace Twitter with THREADS on Hive blockchain.

Meta's Threads, a crash project spun out of Instagram was internally code-named Project 92. It is really baffling that all the paths that LeoFinance has taken towards the actualization of threads is what Meta is following to also birth their THREAD with similar purpose.

Threads has been improving its features over time to serve as a web3 improved version of Twitter, and eve a step further metamorphosing into Elon Musk's Everything App. This is made possible with enhanced features such as decentralized polling, crypto rewards, true decentralization, peer to peer transaction, etc.

Recently, Threads has gone a little further with its communities feature that makes it fitting as a web3 alternative for Reddit. Certainly, it's not out of place to call LeoFInance an all-in-one web3 solution for social media needs.
