Decentralized real-time communication (dRTC) Empowers Users: The INLEO Threadcast Example
Real-time communication (RTC) at Glance
Online platforms and channels have become the “new normal” for both personal and professional communications since employees and consumers and employees started experiencing the upsides of digital interactions. These digital interactions come with promises of convinience, and more flexibility, however, there are cons attached.
Real-time communication (RTC) refers to the exchange of information or messages instantly, without any noticeable delay. It allows for immediate interaction and updates between users, typically facilitated through technologies like messaging apps, video calls, or collaborative platforms. When this is obtainable on a decentralized blockchain or thwweb3 environment, we call it decentralized real-time communication (dRTC).
Data Milking is Real on Web2 RTC
Existing real-time communication (RTC) platforms powered by Web2 communication giants have become huge business spots with profit maximization. These giants have offered freemium models where users can onboard and use the product with zero or minimal costs, hpwever, making the users the product of their merchadize. This is because most web2 platforms have been found guilty of mining user data and monetizing them via third-party ads. etc.
Vice.com reported that Zoom, for instance, was caught shipping users’ personal information to Meta from the moment they logged on. Ther are also reports of capturing of users' contact information, device model, unique advertising ID, etc. Indeed, this makes the users the "product" of merchandize on these platforms.
Web3 has a Better Model
Web3 technology has unlocked new opportunities to how people interact digitally. Real-time communication has not been left out. Innovations within the web3 sphere is changing the way individuals interact and communicate online. It is a major paradigm shift hat focuses on user privacy, user autonomy and account ownership and user security. The focus of web3 is to put the user in charge.
Incorporating web3 into RTC first of all ensures that all users have full ownership and control of their accounts, through the use of cryptographic keys. This allows the users to choose how much information to disclose and to whom, minimizing the risk of identity theft or unwanted data exposure. We can say that web3 technology makes privacy a priority. There are no more intermediaries. Users can reach out to who they want. Users can create content and choose how others interact with tha contens. Web3 technology also allows for open source of projects and this leads to collaborations.
The INLEO Threadcast Example
The month of December 2023 was a composition of moments that revealed the true power of INLEO's Threadcast. Having to attend Space Shows on X (formerly Twitter) was very fun and interesting until there were momens you felt ike you shoud lend your voice on the subject but there are less ways to do that. We on the hive decided to use the Threadcast for live text conversations covering the discussions on X Spaces. This revealed Threadcast as one of the most potent feature of the INLEO frontend that can bring the masses to the Hive blockchain and web3 world at large.
@breads is one of those top X influencers that joined Hive following the impact that Threadcast generated for his Tuesday Space shows. Recording engagements to the tune of 1k and more on a regular basis while the participants have the opportunity of earning cryptocurrencies for their opinions, ideas and questios bothering the topic discussed.
Recent conversations on X has shown the impact of real-time communications via Threadcast on hosts, participants and the blockchain in general. This tweet by @anomadsoul mentioned that the Christmas episode of Cryptoholics Space show received $17 in post rewards, when posted on INLEO and participants did earn tens of dollar worth of rewards.
3SPEAK TV , a leading web3-based video content platform also shared the success story of giving out at least $115 to listeners on the #CTTPodcast using Threadcast. These are just the least of what the dRTC on Hive is brewing.
In a wrap, decentralized real-time communication has come to stay and INLEO makes it better in the text form. Hopefully, the audio and video formats gets integrated. This is a paradigm shift that empowers users by granting them control over their online interactions.
When will you create your first Threadcast or be a part of one?
