14th April, 2025 Freewrite Daily Prompt: king of fools

Imagine that I am invited to come and make a speech or give a talk about the “King of fools.”

So, I got off my seat, take a few steps to the front. The guests were all seated. Imagine if it were an academic function. I am not an academician but sure, I have gone to school. So, I can read and write. I can make some few correct sentences. So, I stood in front of the audience, then I remember that there is a stage. So I walk up the platform to deliver my much anticipated speech.

Oh, no! Not again! How could I make such mistake again? I remembered that I forgot my note the last time I was asked to come and deliver a speech. It was at the wedding ceremony of my school mate. All my colleagues had hinted me that I would be the one to represent them and give a speech or felicitation at the ceremony. Oh, yes! I felt big that day. I had prepared a few points on my note in preparation for the first speech of the big boy! But, hush! I forgot the note! Don't asked me how I managed out but I sure said something.

Now, imagine me again. I have forgotten what I have jotted down. I couldn't go down again to pick my notes. That wouldn't be professional. So, I have to frame something out.

Then I remember Baba Bola. Baba Bola was a farmer. He worked more than any other farmer but his harvest was always the least (and that is if Baba would even see any harvest that year). When the rain starts, Baba would spend time helping others to cultivate and plant their lands. When the season had gone for more than 3 months, Baba would start preparing his own land. By the time Baba is done preparing his land, few weeks after he had planted his crops, the dry season will come and all his crops would die. That is a typical example of a King of fools.
