A story behind my first drawing of a king done 4 years Ago
Hello everyone,
I’d like to share a meaningful experience from four years ago that highlights my growth as an artist. During that time, I created a drawing of Oba_oniba_ekun, the King of IBA LAND, which stemmed from my deep admiration for him and my passion for art.
I dedicated significant time and effort to this piece, honing my skills through patience and perseverance. One of the most challenging aspects was shading the lines on His Royal Highness’s crown, which required meticulous attention to detail. Once I overcame that challenge, I focused on ensuring that the artwork was flawless and beautifully presented. It was important to me to deliver it directly to the king.
Throughout the creative process, I faced hurdles, including the theft of my mobile phone, which I used for reference. This setback was particularly disheartening, but I found a way to print a version of the artwork, allowing me to complete it for the presentation.
On the day I met the king, he expressed astonishment that I had created the piece by hand, even suggesting it could be a print. This reaction filled me with pride, even though I could not show him any progress shots, as they were all on my stolen phone. To this day, the king is unaware that every detail was my own handiwork, but I’m grateful that he has chosen to keep the artwork in his palace.
I hope you find value in my journey as an artist. Here’s a glimpse of my progress over the past four years:
