A dynamic change in Perspective

Source

Hello hivans. One thing I have come to realize and observe is that as we grow up, our perspectives towards life begin to change. Gradually, certain things we once thought a big deal begin to be of less interest to us. I think it's something that is common with every individual especially when they start reaching that age of independence.

The prompt provided us with the options concerning this areas of changes; lifestyle, habits or interests. To me, each of these options have their distinct narratives about how I personally have experienced changes. I'll start off with lifestyle.

•Lifestyle

Well, when I was much younger, there were quite some actions I carried out. But one of them that gradually phased off with time was me visiting my friends. I saw it as an obligation to always go out and visit my friends in their houses even if it meant me sneaking out of the house to do it because sometimes my parents refuse letting me. This was more rampant during the holidays. I saw it as a taboo for a whole week to pass by without me paying my friends a visit.

Even when we where done with secondary school and some of my friends got admission to the higher institution while I was yet to get mine, whenever they returned during the end of the semester I'll be the one to go and visit them. That was me, the Visitor! But as time passed by, I began to see myself as being too available. This began to seem like I was reducing my worth. I mean, which person that is serious with his life goes from house to house paying friends visits? Now I can stay weeks without even going to a friend's house, especially if the purpose of the visit wouldn't yield something meaningful.

•Interests / Habits

As a kid, I was really engrossed in movies that it nearly became a problem. I remember saving my allowances my dad gave me for school just to use it to buy movies that time DVDs were still being patronized. Even during exam periods when my eyes were supposed to be in my books I was putting them on movies. You just name the latest released movie and I would begin to hunt for it. Apart from eating and bathing, I could use the whole day watching movies.

Well, I still watch movies up till now but not like before. Right now I can spend two days on a movie unlike before when I can spend just a day on three to five movies. Right now when I put on a film to watch it's after I'm free and having less or no work in my hands.

•How these changes impacted my life

Honestly, adapting to these changes have brought impact to my life in a positive way. Instead of going out from every now and then looking for which friend to visit, I stay indoors more and engage in some personal development by reading books, meditating, and putting in work to maximize my creativity. As much as I still watch movies, I try opt for the ones that can help inspire and sharpen my IQ, such as movies about the stories of great men like Jeff Bezos, Nelson Mandela, and the likes which really help in inspiring me a whole lot.

This is a great transformation for you and it's useful I'll say. Sometimes we need to find that time for ourselves for some personal development, which we can't achieve if we keep running around from one friend's place to another.
