Madras Carpet

'Madras Carpet' Yes, this is the name of today's plant, it is a herb that commonly grows in flat bunches in fields. I don't know who gave this name to this flowering plant but now I know why it has been given this name.

This herb spreads by roots and grows only a few cm in height. This means as it grows, it spreads while remaining on the ground. And while growing there, these flowers bloom which at first glance look like disc florets of any common flower. You will feel as if either the petals are yet to form on it or the petals have fallen off and now only this part of the flower is left.

This is exactly what I thought when I saw it for the first time, but it has been like this for the last several weeks and I have not seen any petals on these flowers. Then yesterday I thought that maybe these buds want me to photoshoot them in this state and then maybe after that they will bloom. LOL!

So yesterday I took some pictures of it and then got it identified with Google Lens and came to know that it is known as Madras Carpet. I don't know the real reason for giving it this name, but as far as I understand, it has been named Carpet because both its leaves and buds feel woolly touch and it lies on the ground just like a soft velvety carpet.

And it is not that this plant is a carpet by name only. You can literally walk on it, nothing will happen to it and you will feel very soft and pleasant. And these flowers amidst the green leaves at your feet will really make you feel like a designer carpet. :)

Its truly soft and so colourful. Right now there is a lot of dust on it due to which its colors are not looking that good but in the rains they look even more beautiful and soft like a real carpet. :)

It has not rained for a long time so there was a lot of dust on them, otherwise their colors really look very attractive and walking on it literally feels like walking on an expensive carpet. Thank you for appreciating my phone Photography!😊
