A variedade de habilidades do Splinterlands é impressionante e sempre haverão oportunidades de utilizá-las de maneira perfeita, entretanto algumas habilidades consequem ser frequentemente mais úteis do que outras, isso é completamente normal mas não significa que por ser pouco utilizada a habilidade é inútil, afinal se você possuí-la no conjunto de regras certas sempre será possível encaixar combos incríveis para surpreender o oponente.
Hoje eu quero falar de uma habilidade que está no meio termo, ela não é totalmente esquecida mas também não está presente em todas as partidas, então vamos chamá-la de mediana. A habilidade mediana que comentarei com vocês hoje é a Shatter .
Ao ser atingido por uma carta com essa habilidade, a armadura do alvo será totalmente destruída, sendo extremamente útil em partidas com a regra Armored Up ou contra composições que possuam invocadores e/ou cartas que distribuem armaduras para todas as cartas (Protect ).
Apesar deste efeito ser bastante poderoso é difícil coordená-lo com eficiência, afinal você dependerá da ordem dos ataques e do oponente escolher cartas com muita armadura. Haverão situações onde sua carta com Shatter atacará mas haverá pouca ou nenhuma armadura para ser destruída, inutilizando desta forma o efeito dessa habilidade, há bastante chance disso acontecer se as outras cartas do seu time possuírem maior velocidade do que a sua carta com essa habilidade, por isso é importante prestar bastante atenção na ordem dos ataques ao elaborar sua estratégia.
Entendendo a utilidade dessa habilidade e seus principais pontos de falha, vamos observá-la em ação para entender qual a melhor maneira de executá-la. Estas são as regras da batalha em questão:
Repare que além de possuir a regra Armored Up , apenas 2 elementos estavam disponíveis (fogo e vida), sendo que a regra Counterspell seria um grande incentivo para que o oponente escolhesse montar uma composição de Vida utilizando o invocador Grandmaster Rathe que seria a melhor escolha para amplificar os efeitos das regras de combate.
Prevendo esse grande foco na armadura, resolvi escolher duas cartas com a habilidade Shatter para ter certeza que a armadura não seria um grande problema para o meu time, resultando nessa composição:
É óbvio que eu também montei um time com o Grandmaster Rathe 🤣 mas o detalhe foram as escolhas da Drybone Raider e o War Pegasus para desempenhar esse papel de quebrar a armadura dos oponentes. Essa foi uma escolha bem assertiva considerando que as duas primeiras cartas do oponente possuem 10+ de armadura. O primeiro ataque do War Pegasus foi responsável por causar 3 de dano + 6 de dano na armadura restante, permitindo que minhas outras cartas já conseguissem causar dano direto na vida enquanto o adversário ainda estava lidando com a armadura da minha carta.
Mas não é só isso. Perceba que o oponente possui duas cartas com Resurect , isso significa que o Uriel the Purifier será revivido duas vezes com sua armadura totalmente restaurada, isso seria um problema imenso mas com o Shatter presente em três ataques na rodada (por causa do Double Strike ) toda essa armadura perdeu totalmente a efetividade.
Fiquei muito satisfeito com essa partida pois consegui extrair o máximo potencial dessa habilidade, ficando fácil visualizar o quão impactante ela pode ser se aplicada corretamente. Essa premissa servirá para todas as habilidades do jogo, qualquer uma pode ser extremamente útil na circunstância adequada, claro que algumas serão mais utilizadas que outras, mas todas possuem motivos para existir!

After all, if you have them in the right set of rules, it will always be possible to create amazing combos to surprise your opponent.
Today, I want to talk about a ability that falls in the middle; it's not completely forgotten, but it's also not present in every game. So, let's call it average. The average ability I'll discuss with you today is Shatter .
When hit by a card with this ability, the target's armor is completely destroyed, making it extremely useful in matches with the Armored Up rule or against compositions that have summoners and/or cards that distribute armor to all cards, such as Protect .
Despite this effect being quite powerful, coordinating it efficiently can be challenging. You'll depend on the order of attacks and your opponent choosing cards with a lot of armor. There will be situations where your card with Shatter will attack, but there will be little or no armor to destroy, rendering this abilitie's effect useless. This is likely to happen if the other cards on your team have higher speed than the card with this ability. So, it's important to pay close attention to the order of attacks when devising your strategy.
Understanding the utility of this ability and its main shortcomings, let's see it in action to understand the best way to use it. These are the rules of the battle in question:
Notice that apart from having the Armored Up rule, only two elements were available (fire and life). The Counterspell rule would strongly encourage the opponent to choose a Life composition using the summoner Grandmaster Rathe, which would be the best choice to amplify the effects of the combat rules.
Anticipating this heavy focus on armor, I decided to choose two cards with the Shatter ability to ensure that armor wouldn't be a big problem for my team. This resulted in the following composition:
Of course, I also assembled a team with Grandmaster Rathe 🤣, but the key was the choice of Drybone Raider and War Pegasus to break the opponent's armor. This was a smart choice considering that the opponent's first two cards had 10+ armor. The first attack of War Pegasus was responsible for dealing 3 damage + 6 damage to the remaining armor, allowing my other cards to deal direct damage to the life while the opponent was still dealing with my card's armor.
But that's not all. Notice that the opponent has two cards with Resurrect . This means that Uriel the Purifier would be revived twice with his armor completely restored. This could have been a huge problem, but with Shatter present in three attacks in the round (thanks Double Strike ), all that armor lost its effectiveness.
I was very satisfied with this match because I managed to extract the maximum potential from this ability. It's easy to see how impactful it can be when applied correctly. This premise applies to all the abilities in the game; any ability can be extremely useful in the right circumstances. Of course, some will be more commonly used than others, but they all have reasons to exist!
