Reading mind is hurting not only for one who is being read but for one as well who is reading as well because knowing what our loved ones are feeling about us may be distressing sometimes. Partners must be open book but if they were given the magical power to read each others thoughts then just tussles and arguments will remain between them

That gift would cause problem because both partners would be hurt, if the other partner knows you are reading their mind they won't be happy about it.
