A professional risk

Life encounters us with so many situations. Some are easy while others are tough to tackle. Many things in the world are easy to understand but in reality, they become a tough nut to crack. To cope with such situations, sometimes we have to take both controlled and uncontrolled risks. I am against the concept of uncontrolled risk but I believe there must be controlled risks in life as these are risks that change the course of your life. We fear risks because of the uncertainty they have but sometimes success lies in that uncertainty.
Let me share with you a story of mine that did not happen so long ago. I have mentioned in my many blogs that I am working in a pharma company as a section in-charge. I am looking after the softgel section. So one day, when I asked the dispensing store to dispense me gelatin so that I could process today’s bath, they accidentally dispensed gelatin from the lot which was rejected due to long disintegration time. By the time the material was dispensed, half a day had passed and the batch was very urgent. When they told me that accidentally the worker extracted gekatin from the wrong lot, I was shocked because I was supposed to complete the batch on that day.

Amidst this perplexity, I suddenly thought of taking the risk of processing the same gelatin without informing anyone. I simply picked the dispensed material and took it to my section. Now I could not use it simply like other batches. The difference between shrewd risk and senseless risk is that in the former, proper planning is done. So I opened my desktop and researched what could be possible reasons for prolonged DT. I found out that the addition of sorbitol can lower the disintegration time. I simply issued sorbitol on my responsibility and started making gelatin without informing anyone’s else. Deep inside I was scared as well as the act kf mine can result in loss to the company financially and inquiry on me that can lead to termination as well.
First day I prepared gelatin which was 5 5-hour process, the second day was for filling, and the third day was for drying the capsule. These three days I remained in continuous stress. As affer manufacturing gelatin, I realized what blunder I had committed but it was useless to cry now. I was just waiting for everything to proceed well. And,
Finally , tge day came when Quality control lab handed iver its report to me. Boom🔥🔥 the report was ok . I was super excited. I wanted ti tell manager about my this achievement but I didn’t because it will result into deviation and inquiry upon me.
Risks are good in life until they are controlled.Uncontrolled risks bring destruction only. In controlled risk we have limited damage .In my case the risk paid me off just in one way ad it escaped me frim accountability. The risk I took was bit big but I still feel and enjoy that thrill.

That was really a risky one and you're lucky it played out well. If not, you would have invited to judgement panel to answer queries 😅
